Where District 2 is now, and where the garden team works
On 1 July 2025 Ho Chi Minh City replaced its districts with wards, the local administrative units. Under Resolution 1685/NQ-UBTVQH15 the old District 2 became three of them: An Khanh, Binh Trung and Cat Lai. A street or project name is all we need.
Our office is at 72 Nguyen Co Thach in Sala, inside An Khanh ward, and the landscape team works regularly in all three wards. Surveys are booked between 7:00 AM and 8:00 PM on any day; your household chooses the hours for work in the garden.
- An Khanh ward
- Thao Dien, Thu Thiem and part of An Phu. The large gardens belong to the villas along Nguyen Van Huong and Quoc Huong and to Thao Dien's gated compounds. Sala has the Saroma villas and SariTown townhouses; the towers of Thu Thiem and Thao Dien have penthouses and duplexes.
- Binh Trung ward
- East of Mai Chi Tho and Song Hanh: Lakeview City and Palm City, whose townhouses and semi-detached villas have yards and roof terraces, and the SOHO townhouses of The Global City.
- Cat Lai ward
- The old Thanh My Loi and Cat Lai wards beside the river: townhouses and garden homes next to the Vista Verde and Feliz en Vista towers.
Thao Dien villa gardens on low ground: a schedule that follows the rain
The typical Thao Dien home is a garden villa with a lawn, mature trees, hedges, a pool deck and a terrace open towards the river, and it sits on low ground. Tuoi Tre (June 2025) describes Thao Dien, Quoc Huong and Nguyen Van Huong streets as low-lying with old drainage; when heavy rain meets a high tide, water can stand 0.15–0.3 m deep for one to two hours.
The rainy season runs from May to November, says the city government portal. Grass grows fast then and waterlogs in low spots; in the dry season it scorches if watering falls short. The frequency is proposed after the survey and adjusted between the seasons.
| Task | How the timing shifts |
|---|---|
| Mowing | More often in the rainy season. In the dry months the interval lengthens and the effort goes into watering. |
| Hedges and shrubs | Light, regular trimming. Hard reshaping waits for steady growth, away from harsh sun. |
| Feeding | By plant group and growth stage. Fertiliser is not applied right before heavy rain, which washes it away. |
| Patches in low spots | The cause comes first: standing water, shade under a tree, compacted soil or a worn shortcut. Only then is the patch raked out, the topsoil improved and the same grass variety replanted. |
| Large trees before the storms | Dead branches, and branches reaching for the roof or power lines, are checked. Pruning tall trees is a separate service. |

Compound house, Sala villa, townhouse yard, roof terrace: one checklist each
After the survey each property gets its own checklist.
- Garden villas and compound houses in Thao Dien
- Detailed gardens: prized ornamental plants, seasonal beds, a fish pond by the terrace. Up specialists, the UpClean staff who do the work, come in the time slot you choose, screen the terrace before mowing and return pots and outdoor furniture to their places.
- Saroma villas and SariTown townhouses in Sala
- The checklist follows what the plot holds: a lawn mown and edged along paths and beds, a hedge held straight and level, weeds pulled by hand.
- Townhouses and semi-detached villas in Binh Trung
- Small yards and roof terraces, worked largely by hand. Grass beside a high wall or under a tree tends to thin out; shade-tolerant ground cover or decorative gravel may serve better than repeated patching.
- Penthouse and duplex terraces
- In the towers of Thu Thiem and Thao Dien, outdoor pots and planters are pruned, fed and cleared of leaves, and the irrigation checked, as agreed after the survey. Indoor plants come under our separate indoor plant care service.
What a visit covers, including koi ponds
Each visit starts with a record: plants, lawn, pond and garden furniture are photographed first. The work then follows the checklist in your quote.
For a koi pond the fish come first. Beforehand the specialist agrees with you how far the cleaning goes: skimming leaves, brushing algae and cleaning the filter chamber with the fish in place, or lowering the water to reach sediment on the floor. If fish must be moved, the pond owner decides how they are held. The work is mechanical cleaning only. We give no commitment on water-quality readings or fish health, and we do not repair pumps or underwater lights.
- Lawn: mown at a height suited to the variety, edged, weeded by hand, worn areas patched.
- Shrubs, hedges and ornamental plants: shaped; dead, diseased and obstructing low branches removed.
- Feeding and watering: fertiliser, growing medium topped up, extra watering in the dry season and a check of existing sprinklers and lines.
- Pests and diseases: plants inspected every visit; any treatment is explained first and uses only legally permitted plant-protection products.
- Clearing up: leaves, branches and clippings collected, paths and paving swept.
What garden maintenance costs in District 2
There is no standard rate and no price per square metre for mowing. A Thao Dien villa garden with tall trees and a fish pond and a townhouse yard in Binh Trung can be the same size and very different jobs. The survey is free, and a small yard can be estimated from photos. The written all-inclusive quote lists each task, its frequency and the price per visit or per month; it changes only if you agree in writing.
| What we look at | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Lawn area and grass type | One continuous lawn is quick by machine; small patches between beds and steps are cut by hand. |
| Trees: how many, how tall | Low shrubs are one kind of work, shade trees needing a ladder and safety lines another; work high in a tree is usually quoted separately. |
| Starting condition | A garden left alone for months, in a villa standing empty between two leases for instance, needs a restoration visit first. |
| Ponds and water features | Size, whether there are fish, the filter system and the level of cleaning agreed. |
| Frequency and materials | Visits per month, and who supplies fertiliser, growing medium and turf for patching. |
| Green waste | The volume, and whether we take it away or it goes to your compound's collection point. |
Limits we keep: pesticides, street trees, power lines, mosquitoes
- Hand weeding comes first. A plant-protection product is used only when needed and with your agreement, only if legally permitted, at the recommended dose; you are told when, and nothing is sprayed near a fish pond.
- Trees on the pavement or on public land are managed by the competent authority. We look after plants inside your property only, and we do not cut branches near power lines on our own initiative.
- Work at height uses a stable ladder, safety lines and protective equipment. A position that cannot be made safe is reported to you and left alone.
- We make no general promise that plants will survive; any commitment about plants is written into your quote or contract.
- Mosquitoes in a dense or riverside garden
- A separate service, carried out by UpClean's own pest-control technicians after a survey.
- A yard that holds water, or a new lawn or pond
- Regrading, new drainage and relaying a lawn belong to our garden design and build service.
- Guide: garden care in Saigon's rainy season
- For households that do part of the work themselves.
International residents: English, the compound gate, time away
Tuoi Tre reported in 2020 that nearly 6,000 foreign residents of 102 nationalities lived in Thao Dien.
- In English
- Enquiries, quotes, booking confirmations and the Up Report can all be in English. For an English speaker on site, say so when you book; if we cannot arrange one, we tell you beforehand and help by phone or message.
- At the gate
- Thao Dien's compounds log every entry, so we send the specialist's name, photo and contact number beforehand. Inside, the team follows the guard's directions on parking, the route and which outdoor tap and socket to use.
- While you are away
- Visits continue if someone can open the gate or access has been handed over as agreed.
- Children and pets
- Mowers and hedge trimmers run only once children and pets are out of the work area, and loose stones are picked off the lawn first.
How to arrange a survey in District 2
- Message 0968 726 135 on WhatsApp or Zalo with photos of the garden and your street or project name. At the free survey the specialist walks the grounds and notes the lawn area, the trees and their heights, any pond, the access and where green waste can be collected.
- You receive the checklist, the seasonal frequency and the all-inclusive price in writing, per visit or as a regular contract.
- After each visit the Up Report arrives by WhatsApp or Zalo. If an item on the checklist falls short, reply within 48 hours and it is redone free of charge.
- Book a free survey
- Bookings are taken from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM, seven days a week.
