Mosquito control in District 2 — Thao Dien garden villas, Sala, Cat Lai

Since 1 July 2025 the city has had wards instead of districts. Resolution 1685/NQ-UBTVQH15 turned the former District 2 into three wards — An Khanh, Binh Trung and Cat Lai — and split the old An Phu ward between the first two. People still say Thao Dien, Thu Thiem and District 2, so give us the project name or the address you know and we match it.

Our office is in the Sala urban area, at 72 Nguyen Co Thach, An Khanh ward. We take mosquito surveys in all three wards between 07:00 and 20:00 every day; the exact time is confirmed when you book.

An Khanh ward

The old Thu Thiem, An Loi Dong, Thao Dien and An Khanh wards and part of An Phu: the garden villas of Nguyen Van Huong and Quoc Huong, Saroma and SariTown in Sala, and Empire City, The Metropole Thu Thiem, Masteri Thao Dien and, right on the Saigon River, Xi Riverview Palace.

Binh Trung ward

Binh Trung Dong, Binh Trung Tay and part of the old An Phu, east of Mai Chi Tho and Song Hanh: townhouses and terraced villas at Lakeview City, Palm City and The Global City, riverside apartments on Diamond Island.

Cat Lai ward

The old Thanh My Loi and Cat Lai wards, beside the river: the Vista Verde and Feliz en Vista towers, plus townhouse and garden-home neighbourhoods.

The typical Thao Dien home is a garden villa with a lawn, mature trees, a pergola and timber decking round the pool. Dense canopy and shady corners are where adult mosquitoes rest by day; plant pots, water features and garden ornaments hold rainwater, and that is where they lay their eggs.

The ground makes it harder. Tuoi Tre (June 2025) describes Quoc Huong, Nguyen Van Huong and Thao Dien streets as low-lying, with ageing drainage: when heavy rain falls on a high tide, water can stand 0.15–0.3 m deep for one to two hours. After each such episode, drains, gullies, the garage and anything left in the yard need checking again.

The visit begins with a walk round the property with you or your gardener. Your Up specialist empties what is within safe reach — plant saucers, unused pots, tarpaulins, a pool cover holding rainwater — and notes high roofs and gutters without safe access for a separate survey.

UpClean's own pest-control technicians then choose the method, having seen the grounds, the mosquito activity and who lives in the house. Products are on the list permitted in Vietnam, carry a valid registration number and are used as the label directs; the plan sent before the visit names the product, the areas to be sprayed and the re-entry time, meaning how long to stay out of a treated area.

Space spraying

A fine mist that quickly reduces adult mosquitoes at the time of spraying. The effect is short, so it is usually considered when numbers are very high or before a garden party; book early, so the re-entry time has passed by the day.

Resting-site treatment

Low shrubs, the underside of foliage, shady terrace corners, the space under outdoor stairs; marked out to keep clear of play areas and vegetable beds.

Water that cannot be removed

For gullies and ornamental ponds the approach is chosen point by point. A pond with fish is never treated directly, so tell us about it beforehand.

A low-chemical plan

Ask at the survey if you prefer a biological or low-chemical treatment. The technicians consider it within the permitted list, always alongside clearing standing water.

There is no published price list. A balcony apartment in Thu Thiem and a Thao Dien villa with a garden, pool and outbuildings are very different jobs, so we survey first, free of charge, then send an all-inclusive quote in writing with the area to be sprayed, the method, the re-entry time and the repeat schedule. The figure does not change without your written agreement. It depends on:

• The size of the garden and the floors, terraces and roof terraces to be treated.
• How dense the planting is, and how many ponds, water features and gullies there are.
• The method and the number of repeat treatments in the rainy season.
• How much clearing, covering and wiping down falls to your Up specialist.
• Any warranty, which applies for the period and scope stated in the quote.

• At the survey, tell us how many young children live in the house, whether anyone is elderly or has a respiratory condition, and whether the garden has dogs, cats, pet birds, a fish pond or a beehive.
• Koi pond: it is marked as an area to avoid and covered as our technicians instruct; your Up specialist also asks beforehand whether the pump or aerator needs adjusting for a while.
• During outdoor spraying, the family usually only needs to close the windows and doors facing the garden and stay indoors for the time you are told.
• Bring in laundry, outdoor toys and pets' food bowls; cover the household water tank.
• Garden vegetables and fruit are picked again only after the interval our technicians give.
• Children and pets return to the lawn and play area only when the re-entry time in the plan has passed; your Up specialist then wipes the outdoor furniture, swings and play equipment.
• Tell your gardener and housekeeper the spray date and how long to keep out of the garden.

Thao Dien is home to nearly 6,000 foreign residents of 102 nationalities, according to Tuoi Tre (2020). Enquiries, quotes, booking confirmations and the Up Report can all be in English. For an English speaker at the house, add a note when you book; if we cannot arrange one, we say so in advance and support you by phone or message.

Registering the visit

Estates, towers and gated compounds here mostly have rules for contractors: register in advance, declare the equipment and products brought in, work within set hours. We send your Up specialist's name and photo and our technicians' details beforehand, for you to pass to building management or gate security.

If you are away

You need not be at home. Leave a key with building management, reception or family: only the assigned specialist handles it, the times are recorded and keys are never copied. For a smart lock we recommend a temporary code; the walk-through can be done by video call.

Payment

After the walk-through, by bank transfer or cash. Larger jobs may need a deposit, stated in the quote. VAT invoices are issued on request by Uptech Technology Solution Company Limited, for individuals and companies.

The city's rainy season runs from about May to November, when the health authorities advise stepping up dengue prevention. One treatment may cover a short-term need such as an event; reducing mosquitoes through the whole season usually takes repeat treatments, at an interval our technicians propose and write into the quote with any warranty terms.

According to Vietnam's Ministry of Health and the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City, dengue is spread by the striped Aedes mosquito, which lays its eggs in fairly clean water standing in containers around the home. Removing larvae therefore remains the key measure. Home spraying does not replace the health authorities' disease-control work, and anyone with a high fever should be seen at a medical facility.

• Each week, have plant saucers emptied and unused buckets turned over; change the water in vases and water-plant bowls.
• After heavy rain or a high tide, check drains, gullies, the garage and the basement; keep water containers covered and do not let the cover of an unused pool collect rainwater.
• Sleep under a net, daytime naps included, and co-operate when the local authorities spray at an outbreak site.

• Call or message 0968 726 135 on WhatsApp or Zalo with a few photos of the garden and any ponds, plus your project name or address.
• The survey is free; the plan and all-inclusive quote follow in writing.
• On the day your Up specialist clears standing water and covers the fish pond, outdoor furniture and play area, then UpClean's technicians spray. In a compound the team follows gate security's guidance on parking, routes and outdoor water and electricity; in rain or strong wind the visit is usually moved.
• After the re-entry time, outdoor surfaces are wiped down and your Up Report arrives by WhatsApp or Zalo.
• Rescheduling or cancelling is free with at least 24 hours' notice; closer to the appointment the cancellation fee is 30%.
