The old District 2: An Khanh, Binh Trung and Cat Lai wards
District 2 ceased to be an administrative unit on 1 July 2025, when the city replaced districts with wards. Resolution 1685/NQ-UBTVQH15 placed the area in three wards: An Khanh, Binh Trung and Cat Lai. Residents still say Thao Dien, Thu Thiem or District 2; use the name you know, with the project or house number.
From our office at 72 Nguyen Co Thach in the Sala urban area, rodent surveys are arranged regularly in all three wards, between 07:00 and 20:00 every day.
- An Khanh ward
- Thao Dien, Thu Thiem, An Loi Dong, the old An Khanh and part of An Phu. Homes with gardens: the villas of Nguyen Van Huong and Quoc Huong streets, the gated compounds, Saroma and SariTown. Apartments: Sala, Empire City, The Metropole Thu Thiem, Masteri Thao Dien.
- Binh Trung ward
- East of Mai Chi Tho: Lakeview City, Palm City, the SOHO townhouses of The Global City, Estella Heights, and Diamond Island, a peninsula with river or canal on three sides.
- Cat Lai ward
- The former Thanh My Loi and Cat Lai wards, right on the river: Vista Verde, Feliz en Vista, and streets of townhouses and garden homes.
Sewer rats, roof rats, house mice: which one a District 2 home tends to meet
Homes in this city meet three kinds of rodent, and each travels its own way. Knowing where they come from tells us which gaps to close.
- Sewer rats: low ground and homes near water
- Large, heavy, good at burrowing and swimming. They come from sewers, drain pits and drainage channels into yards, laundry areas and ground-floor bathrooms, and are common in townhouses and villas near canals. Tuoi Tre (June 2025) describes Quoc Huong and Nguyen Van Huong streets in Thao Dien as low-lying with old drainage, and Cat Lai and Diamond Island sit beside the river. There we inspect drain openings, drain pits and floor-drain grates first.
- Roof rats: villas among trees
- Slender, long-tailed, agile climbers. A branch touching the roof, a cable or a vertical drainpipe takes them to a metal roof, a plasterboard ceiling or a roof terrace. Thao Dien villas usually stand among mature trees, so the survey walks the whole outside looking for branches on the roof and gaps at the eaves.
- House mice: apartments and shophouses
- Small enough for a very narrow gap; they nest in kitchen cabinets, under appliances and in service ducts. They turn up even in the high-rises of Thu Thiem, Sala and Diamond Island, arriving with goods or through the service shafts and refuse chutes.
The signs, and what to do before the survey
Rodents are active mainly at night, so traces usually come before a sighting: running or gnawing above a plasterboard ceiling or inside a wall; elongated droppings in kitchen cabinets, a storeroom or under the stairs; fresh gnaw marks on food packaging, cables or flexible water hoses; dark smears along skirtings and door edges; a smell with no clear source in a closed room.
- Leave the traces where they are, so the route can be read from them.
- Note which rooms you hear noise in, and at about what time.
- Shut food away and keep the way clear to the storeroom, the understairs space and the ceiling access hatch.
- Do not scatter bait yourself, least of all in the ceiling. A rodent that eats loose bait can crawl into a wall and die out of sight, leaving a smell that is hard to trace, and exposed bait is a risk to young children, dogs and cats.
Sealing the way in: our part, and what needs a builder or building management
Traps and bait deal with the animals already indoors; whether the result lasts depends on closing the right gaps. Your Up specialist lists every gap a rodent could use. Those that mesh, a cover or ordinary filler will close go into the plan and the quote, and our specialists fit them neatly. Anything that needs cutting, masonry or structural work is recorded for you to give to a contractor. In an apartment, holes in the corridor or the shared shafts go on a separate list for building management.
Thu Thiem, Sala and The Global City still have buildings being completed, and many homes there are newly handed over or fitted out. After building work or a pipe repair, check the drain-pit covers and the gaps round pipes that pass through walls. The gaps people miss:
- Drain openings, floor-drain grates and drain pits with a missing or loose cover.
- Gaps round aircon pipes, water pipes and electrical conduit passing through a wall.
- Service-duct doors and ceiling hatches that do not shut tight.
- The gap under a roller shutter, garage door or back kitchen door, and vents without mesh.
- The edge of a metal roof, the roof-to-wall joint, and branches touching the roof or a balcony.
Traps indoors, locked bait stations outdoors
Many families in Thao Dien and An Phu have young children and pets, and often a gardener or housekeeper, so tell us at the survey. The technicians decide the layout from the species, the level of activity and who lives in the house.
- Indoors
- Mechanical traps are usually preferred in kitchens, ceilings and storerooms, because the rodent is caught where it is and fewer die unseen in a wall. In a ceiling, the technicians inspect through the access hatch and note the ways up. Traps are checked on schedule and anything caught is removed at once.
- Outdoors
- Lockable bait stations, closed boxes set along boundary walls, round the house and in service areas. The bait stays inside, where children and pets cannot touch it.
- The plan in your Up Report
- Every trap and station is marked, so whoever mows and prunes knows what must not be moved.
- Your part
- Do not move or open a station, and tell us at once if a pet shows unusual symptoms. Information on the products used is available on request.
What a rodent-control quote in District 2 depends on
There is no listed rate. An apartment with mice in the kitchen cabinets and a villa with rats in the ceiling and the garden are far apart as jobs, so the first step is always the free survey. The written all-inclusive quote then lists the points to seal, the traps and bait stations, the return checks, the cleaning and the warranty terms, and it changes only with your written agreement.
- The size of the property and the number of floors; a garden, a basement, a metal roof or a plasterboard ceiling.
- How many gaps need sealing, of what kind, and which items need a separate contractor.
- How active the rodents are, and how many return checks that implies.
- How much cleaning and deodorising the kitchen, storerooms and ceiling need afterwards.
Droppings and a dead-rodent smell: how the clean-up is done
Droppings and urine should not be swept dry or vacuumed directly, because that can send dirt into the air. Guidance from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is to wet the area with a disinfectant solution, let it soak, then wipe it up with disposable cloths, wearing gloves. Your Up specialist works that way.
A lingering smell usually comes from a carcass or a nest left behind. Where it can be reached, your Up specialist removes it, cleans the spot and treats the odour at its source. Inside a closed ceiling or wall, a hatch is opened or a panel taken down only with your agreement; if a specialist tradesperson is needed we say so and you decide.
- Smell soaked into a mattress, sofa or wardrobe
- Our disinfection and odour-removal service can follow.

- The signs, how they get in, and what you can do yourself.
International residents: English, gates and lobbies, keys, payment
Enquiries, the written plan, the quote, booking confirmations and the Up Report can all be in English. If you want an English speaker at the house, note it when you book; if we cannot arrange that, you hear from us beforehand and we help by phone or message.
- Most apartment buildings here expect service staff to be registered with building management, to show identity papers in the lobby and to use the service lift. We send your Up specialist's name and photo ahead and help with the paperwork where the building asks for it. In a gated compound the team follows the gate guard's directions.
- If you are away, a key can be left with building management, reception or a relative. Only the assigned specialist handles it, the times are written down and it is never copied; the walk-through can be a video call.
- Shophouses, restaurants and offices have their trap checks at quiet hours between 07:00 and 20:00.
- Payment comes after the walk-through, by bank transfer or cash; Uptech Technology Solution Company Limited issues VAT invoices on request.
- To book, call or message 0968 726 135 on WhatsApp or Zalo with photos of droppings or gnaw marks and your project or street name. Rescheduling is free up to 24 hours before; later, cancelling costs 30%.
