Frequently asked questions
Washing machine cleaning: your questions
How often should a washing machine be deep-cleaned?+
For a machine used every day, about every 6 months. Larger families, homes with young children or sensitive skin, and households that mostly wash at low temperatures benefit from a shorter cycle.
Isn't the tub-clean programme enough?+
It helps between services, but it can't shift the thick build-up on the outside of the inner drum and the inside of the outer tub. Those surfaces can only be properly cleaned with the drum removed.
Is a front-loader different from a top-loader?+
Front-loaders are more complex, need more parts removed and require careful attention to the door seal, where mould tends to form. Washer-dryers and some models with sealed outer tubs need a different approach, which we'll explain at the survey.
How long does it take?+
About 1.5–2 hours for a top-loader and 2–3 hours for a front-loader, depending on the model and how much build-up there is.
Will removing the drum affect my machine?+
We check and record your machine's condition first, reassemble it following the correct procedure and run a test cycle with you. If your machine is still under the manufacturer's warranty, please check its terms before booking; we're happy to advise.
Do you repair washing machines?+
We focus on cleaning and maintenance. If we notice a noisy bearing, a leak or an operating fault, your specialist will note it in your Up Report so you can contact a repair service.
