Where District 2 is now, and where we visit regularly
District 2 stopped being an administrative unit on 1 July 2025, when the city switched to wards, its neighbourhood-level units. Resolution 1685/NQ-UBTVQH15 made it An Khanh, Binh Trung and Cat Lai wards, with the old An Phu ward shared between the first two. The old name still works when you book; the project, tower and apartment number are what we need.
From our office at 72 Nguyen Co Thach in Sala, Up specialists work in all three wards regularly, between 7:00 AM and 8:00 PM every day. A recurring slot is fixed around the day and time you choose and the hours your building lets service staff in.
- An Khanh ward
- Sala (Sarimi, Sarica, Sarina, Sadora, the Saroma villas); Thu Thiem (Empire City, The Metropole, The River, Zeit River); Thao Dien (Masteri Thao Dien, Xi Riverview Palace and the villa streets); part of An Phu.
- Binh Trung ward
- The rest of An Phu with the old Binh Trung wards: Diamond Island, Estella Heights, Lakeview City, Palm City and the SOHO townhouses of The Global City.
- Cat Lai ward
- Riverside Thanh My Loi and Cat Lai: Vista Verde, Feliz en Vista and neighbourhoods of townhouses and garden homes.
River-facing glass and long hours of aircon: how apartment plants live here
Apartments in Thu Thiem, Thao Dien and Sala usually open onto the Saigon River through large glass walls, and many households keep the doors shut and the aircon on for hours. For a plant that is nothing like a garden: light arrives mostly through glass, the air is dry and hardly moves.
A plant set deep in the room stretches and pales. One against west-facing glass can scorch at the leaf edges in the dry season. Most indoor plants decline from too much water or the wrong position, seldom from thirst, so the specialist suggests turning the pot or moving it before adding water.
Thu Thiem, Sala and The Global City still have buildings under construction, and fine dust from the sites slips through door gaps and settles on every surface, leaves included. Dust dulls a leaf and limits photosynthesis, which is why large leaves are wiped with a clean damp cloth at each visit.
- Yellow leaves, a soft base, soil that smells: usually overwatering or a pot that drains badly.
- Drooping leaves with dry, brittle edges: too little water, harsh sun or an aircon blowing straight at the plant.
- White cottony spots or fine webbing: mealybugs or spider mites; the pot is moved away from the others.
- Long, thin growth with small pale leaves: not enough light.
High balconies and Thao Dien terraces: reflected sun, wind and standing water
A high-rise balcony takes reflected sun and strong wind, and a pot there dries far faster than one indoors. Pots must stand firmly, never on the railing, and no water may run off to the floor below. When repotting we choose pots with a sealed saucer and a light potting mix, and we keep to the building's rules on what may stand on a balcony.
The rainy season lasts from May to November, according to the city government portal. In the dry months small balcony pots need their moisture checked more often; in the wet months an outdoor pot waterlogs once its saucer fills, so watering is cut back.
Thao Dien villas have terraces and gardens, often with pots outdoors. Our mosquito page for District 2 lists plant saucers among the places where rainwater collects and mosquitoes lay eggs, in villas and in low-floor riverside apartments with many balcony pots alike, so saucers are emptied at every visit. Large trees growing in the ground belong to our separate tree pruning and felling service.
What a visit includes
A visit starts with looking and checking. Each address has a record sheet listing the species, position, water given and last feed of every pot, so the care stays consistent whichever specialist comes and an unusual change is noticed early.
- Moisture and watering: soil is tested at the surface and deeper down, and a plant is watered only when it needs it.
- Pruning: yellow and wilted leaves and dead stems come off; overlong shoots are cut back to keep the plant balanced.
- Leaves and pots: large leaves are wiped, and pots, saucers and the floor around them are cleaned.
- Feeding: on a cycle suited to each plant group, in moderate amounts, and never for a plant weakened by waterlogged roots.
- Pests and disease: leaf undersides, leaf joints and the base are inspected, with local treatment where needed.
- Repotting and turning: a root-bound plant moves to a larger pot with a loose, free-draining mix; pots are turned or moved for light.
- A sheet is laid down for repotting and pruning, and the floor and shelves are wiped before the specialist leaves.
Away for weeks: plant visits, keys and building registration
Thao Dien had nearly 6,000 foreign residents of 102 nationalities in 2020, Tuoi Tre reported, and busy travel schedules and long holidays are part of life here. Those are the weeks when house plants wilt fastest, above all in the dry season. We make scheduled visits while you are away: checking, watering, emptying saucers, clearing fallen leaves and sending an Up Report after each one.
- Access
- Agreed in writing beforehand: how the key or access card is handed over, registration with building management and which rooms the specialist may enter. A key can be left with management or a relative.
- Registration
- Most apartment buildings in District 2 want outside staff registered in advance, with ID shown at the lobby and work kept to set hours. We send the specialist's name and photo for this; in a gated compound you pass the same details to the gate.
- In English
- Enquiries, quotes, booking confirmations and Up Reports are available in English. Should you want an English speaker in your home, say so when you book; if none is free, we let you know beforehand and help by phone or message.
Offices in Thu Thiem and An Phu, shophouses in Sala: plant care on contract
An Phu has many small offices in converted villas and townhouses, Thu Thiem has offices and showrooms in the new urban area, and Sala's shophouses trade on the ground floor with homes or offices above. Plants shape a visitor's first impression in all of them, yet they are usually nobody's job, so they are forgotten or watered a little by everyone. We make it one party's job, with a schedule and a task list.
- Visits outside peak hours or within the hours the building allows.
- Plants listed by location (lobby, reception, meeting rooms, work areas), so each pot is tracked.
- An Up Report after every visit for the office administrator.
- A recurring contract, payment after acceptance of the work, VAT invoices issued.
- A declining plant is replaced only as the contract provides and once approved; new plants, pots and potting mix are quoted separately.
What plant care costs in District 2, and what we do not promise
No price list exists for this service. After a free survey, in person or from photos and video, where the specialist counts the pots, identifies the plants and notes the light, the aircon and how they are watered now, you receive an all-inclusive quote for your address. It states how often we visit, what is done each time and what is charged separately, and nothing is added without your written agreement.
A care task that falls short is redone free within 48 hours. Replacing a plant, and any commitment about the plants themselves, is a matter for your contract; beyond that we make no promise about how an individual plant will fare, and we flag a declining one early in the Up Report so that you can decide.
