Stair polishing: your questions
Can we use the stairs while you work?+
Yes, within an agreed plan. We work from the top down, keep a dry route open and place warning signs on wet steps.
Do you sand or refinish timber stairs?+
No. For timber stairs we only clean and condition the existing finish. Where the coating is worn through, we note it in your Up Report so you can contact a timber specialist.
Will polished stone stairs be slippery?+
Polished stone is more slippery when wet. You can choose a softer satin finish when approving the test step, and existing anti-slip strips are kept and cleaned carefully.
Can chipped nosings or cracked steps be fixed?+
Polishing cannot repair chips or cracks. We point them out and photograph them before work so you can arrange repairs with a stone contractor.
Is it dusty or noisy?+
We hone wet to minimise dust and collect slurry continuously. Machines do make some noise, so we schedule work at times that suit your household.
How much does stair polishing cost?+
It depends on the number of steps, the material, the condition and the handrails. We quote a fixed price in writing after a free survey; for small jobs, photos or a video on Zalo or WhatsApp are enough for a first estimate.
