District 7 today: four wards, and where tree surveys are regular
On 1 July 2025 the city moved from districts to wards, its smallest administrative units, and Resolution 1685/NQ-UBTVQH15 turned District 7 into Tan My, Tan Hung, Tan Thuan and Phu Thuan. The 433-hectare Phu My Hung urban area lies across the first two.
Phu My Hung is among the areas where we prune and fell regularly, and the phone is answered from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM every day of the week. For a home in Tan Thuan or Phu Thuan, contact us first so that a survey slot can be confirmed.
- Tan My ward
- The old Tan Phu ward and the rest of Phu My: villas and townhouses around Crescent Lake, the Crescent Mall and SECC area, Midtown and Riviera Point.
- Tan Hung ward
- The old Tan Phong, Tan Quy, Tan Kieng and Tan Hung wards: Him Lam beside Kenh Te canal, Sunrise City on Nguyen Huu Tho, and the streets around RMIT University and SC VivoCity.
- Phu My Hung's villa neighbourhoods
- My Kim, My Thai and Nam Vien, with rows of garden villas and townhouses set between the apartment towers.
- Tan Thuan and Phu Thuan wards
- Rows of townhouses along Huynh Tan Phat and Nguyen Van Linh, and residential areas by the river; by arrangement.
Your tree or the estate's? The first question in Phu My Hung
Phu My Hung was planned with a building density below 30% and roughly 8.9 m² of greenery per resident, according to Nguoi Do Thi magazine (2023), so there are usually rows of trees, planters and pergolas around a home. With that much planting, a survey opens by settling which trees stand on your own land.
Trees on the pavement, on road dividers, in parks and on public land are urban trees. Cutting one down, relocating it or pruning it heavily needs permission from the competent authority and is the job of the organisation that manages it, so UpClean does not take them on. Where one looks dangerous, the specialist can help you gather photos and details for a request to the local authority.
A tree in a private garden is the owner's decision. Even so, in an urban area or a building run by a management office, felling usually needs the management's agreement, as does felling any tree in the shared grounds. Ask early: the answer shapes both the plan and the date.
- Power lines: branches touching or lying close to the cables are left alone. You notify the electricity company, which cuts the power or handles the branches inside the line's safety corridor, and we finish the rest when it is safe.
- Building and office grounds: accepted with management's approval, within the building's permitted working hours, with a VAT invoice on request.
What pruning is for: roofs, gutters, light and the storm season
Each pruning job should have a clear purpose. The Up specialist, one of UpClean's identity-verified and trained staff, asks what you are trying to achieve and recommends only the cutting that goal requires; cutting too hard, or topping a trunk, can weaken a tree.
The government portal for Ho Chi Minh City gives May to November as the rainy season. Large trees are worth checking before the storms arrive, while deadwood and weak limbs are still easy to spot and the soil is not waterlogged.
- Safety before the storms
- Dead, broken and weak crossing branches are removed and the crown thinned so that it holds less wind and is less likely to break.
- Roof and gutters
- Branches touching the roof, gutters, windows, boundary walls, lights or cameras are cut back, and fewer leaves end up blocking the gutters. Our aircon page for District 7 also notes rooftop outdoor units buried in dry leaves.
- Light and air
- A thinner crown lets sun through to the lawn and flower beds; the garden is less damp, with less moss and fewer mosquitoes. Large crowns and pergolas against the house are where mosquitoes rest by day.
- Shape
- Ornamental trees, shrubs and hedges are trimmed to hold their form and height, at any time of year; hard reshaping is better kept out of long spells of harsh sun.
Villas, townhouses and roof terraces: how position changes the job
The same tree needs a different method depending on where it stands. These are the usual cases in District 7 homes; the actual plan is drawn up only after the specialist has seen the site.
- Garden villas
- In My Kim, My Thai, Nam Vien and around Crescent Lake, a tree close to a roof, a pond, a pergola or parked cars is taken down in sections on ropes; a whole trunk is dropped only where the clear space is wide and safe enough.
- Townhouses on the street
- Where a tree stands hard against the house or the footpath, the route for carrying wood out and the cordon below are planned so that nobody walks into the danger zone.
- Trees on a roof terrace
- A tree on a townhouse or penthouse roof terrace is an access case of its own and is allowed for in the quote; in an apartment tower we first ask the management which route and hours it permits.
- Fruit and flowering trees
- The specialist asks about the flowering and fruiting season before suggesting how much to cut.
On site: the steps, the safety equipment and what we decline
Nothing is cut before it has been assessed. The survey records height, trunk diameter, lean, deadwood, signs of decay, nearby structures and the route for carrying wood out. Cutting rarely happens the same day: the quote and safety plan arrive first, and the date depends on the equipment needed and the working hours your estate allows.
- Preparation: the work area is cordoned off, and roofs, glass and garden furniture are covered; timing is agreed with you or the management.
- Protection: a steady ladder, safety lines, helmet, goggles and gloves for anyone working at height, and a person on watch below.
- Cutting: one section at a time from the top, each lowered on a rope under the direction of the person on the ground.
- Clearing up: branches gathered, timber cut into logs, sawdust and paving swept. The stump is usually cut level with the ground; removing it is suggested only once pipes, paving and wall foundations nearby have been looked at.
- Report: the Up Report, a written record sent by WhatsApp or Zalo, shows the tree before and after with notes on its condition.
- Limits: a tree that is too tall, a place where no ladder can stand safely, or work needing a specialised lifting platform is flagged at the survey. Where conditions are not safe we say so and do not attempt it.
How a tree-work quote in District 7 is built
We do not name a figure before seeing the tree, because effort and risk vary so widely from one to the next. After the free survey you receive a written all-inclusive quote setting out the work, the stump and the disposal of green waste; later changes take effect only with your written consent. A low tree in an easy position can be estimated from photos.
- Size: height, trunk diameter and crown spread, which set the equipment, the crew and the time.
- Where it stands: open garden, tight against the house, a narrow lane or a roof terrace, and the way out for the wood.
- Obstacles: power lines, a glass roof, a pool or parked cars mean lowering in sections, which is slower.
- Extent: light pruning, crown reduction or felling; stump treated or left.
- Waste: how much there is to cut up and remove, and whether you keep the wood.
- Hours: the working times your estate or building sets, and one session or several.
- Payment is made after the walk-through, by bank transfer or cash; a deposit may be asked for a larger job and is stated in the quote.
Guards, working hours and international households: before you book
Many villa and townhouse estates in the former District 7 have guards who log every entry, and some apartment buildings restrict construction-type work at weekends. We ask about your estate's working hours before proposing a date. Phu My Hung is a multicultural community, with the Taipei School, the Japanese School, the Canadian International School and the Korean International School inside it.
- In English
- Advice, the written plan, the quote and the Up Report are available in English. If you need someone who speaks English at the house, mention it when booking; if that cannot be arranged, you are told beforehand and helped by phone or message.
- At the gate
- You receive the specialists' names and photos ahead of the survey to pass to security. On the day, show us where to park, the way out for the wood and which tap and socket may be used.
- How to book
- Send photos of the whole tree, its base and its surroundings, with the name of your estate, to 0968 726 135 on WhatsApp or Zalo. The final walk-through can be in person or by video call.
