Washing machine cleaning in District 7 — Phu My Hung, Tan My, Tan Hung

Since 1 July 2025, under Resolution 1685/NQ-UBTVQH15, Ho Chi Minh City has wards, its local administrative units, in place of districts. The former District 7 is now four of them: Tan Thuan, Phu Thuan, Tan My and Tan Hung. Phu My Hung, an urban area of 433 hectares planned for about 100,000 residents, lies across Tan My and Tan Hung.

Phu My Hung is known as a multicultural neighbourhood, home to the Taipei School, the Japanese School, Canadian International School and Korean International School. Life organised around school shows up at home as a large, steady pile of laundry: uniforms, sports kit, towels and children's bedding, several loads a week.

Every load leaves a little detergent residue, softener and lint, and the more a machine runs, the faster that layer builds up between the inner drum and the outer tub. With relative humidity averaging about 79.5% over the year, according to the city government portal, and many developments beside the Kenh Te canal and the Saigon River, the usual interval of about 6 months may be too long for such a household. We suggest a shorter one, with a clean before a new baby comes home or a school year starts. These habits dirty a drum faster:

• Quick or cold washes for most loads, and plenty of fabric softener.
• Towels and sports kit washed together; both shed a lot of lint.
• Wet laundry left in the drum overnight on busy days.
• Load after load at the weekend, with no time for the machine to dry.

The former District 7 mixes high-rise apartments, villas and townhouses, and each places its washing machine differently. Your specialist plans the approach from the machine type and a photo of the rating label.

High-rise apartments: front-loaders

Usually on a service balcony or in a laundry corner beside the kitchen. Parts come off in the order the model requires, with close attention to the door seal, detergent drawer and drain filter. About 2–3 hours.

Villas and townhouses: large top-loaders

Suited to a large household's duvets, sheets and curtains. The pulsator comes off, the drum is separated, and the shaft and both tub surfaces are cleaned. About 1.5–2 hours.

Machines on the top floor

Where a townhouse has its laundry area on the highest floor, tools go up the stairs, the route is protected and the machine is cleaned where it stands.

Washer-dryers and sealed-tub models

A washer-dryer carries a surcharge for its drying system, shown below. Models with a sealed outer tub need a different approach; we advise on the scope from the rating label before you book.

A separate machine for baby clothes

Cleaned in the same appointment as the main machine, at its own price.

Drum-cleaning tablets and powders, and the tub-clean programme built into many machines, keep the drum in order between services when used as the manufacturer directs. But they act only through the water flowing during one cycle: thick deposits on the outside of the inner drum, inside the outer tub and around the shaft and pulsator usually do not come away completely, and you cannot check the result by eye. With the drum out, each surface is cleaned directly and the Up Report shows it before and after.

Tablets and powders

For upkeep, in the quantity and programme on the packaging; no substitute for a drum-out clean once the machine smells or leaves black flecks.

Tub-clean programme

Run it with the drum empty, as often as the manual states.

Safety

Do not mix different cleaning products in one go, and keep them out of reach of young children.

A front-loader has more parts to remove than a top-loader, and a larger drum is heavier with more surface to clean, so prices go by door type and the capacity on the rating label. Top-loaders are 450,000 VND up to 9 kg and 550,000 VND above 9 kg; front-loaders 690,000 VND up to 9 kg and 790,000 VND above 9 kg; a washer-dryer adds 150,000 VND per machine. The price is confirmed in writing before you book, and nothing is added at your home unless you approve it in writing.

Apartment in Sunrise City or Riviera Point

One 9 kg front-loader on the service balcony: 690,000 VND.

Family with a young child

One 10 kg front-loader and one 7 kg top-loader kept for baby clothes: 1,240,000 VND.

Apartment with a washer-dryer

One 9 kg front-loading washer-dryer and one 10 kg top-loader for duvets and sheets: 1,390,000 VND.

Townhouse or villa in Phu My Hung

One 12 kg top-loader on the top floor: 550,000 VND.

Under the 2023 Housing Law and Circular 05/2024/TT-BXD, every apartment building's rules cover security and hygiene, and many buildings set a lift and working hours for service providers. Villas and townhouses in Phu My Hung have simpler formalities but a different working space: the laundry area may be on the top floor, the stairs narrow and the tiles slippery when wet.

• Your specialist carries ID; lobby formalities after an on-time arrival are not counted as lateness.
• Dirty water is collected in the laundry area, never emptied into a corridor or shared yard or over a balcony railing.
• If the machine must be pulled out of a cupboard or tight corner, your specialist agrees it with you first and protects floor and walls.

The right interval depends on the number of people at home, how often you wash and how you use the machine:

• Used every day: a drum-out clean about every 6 months.
• Large family, several loads a day: shorter, watching for odour or black flecks on clothes.
• Newborns, young children or sensitive skin: shorter, with a clean before the baby comes home.
• Machine in a semi-outdoor area or on an open balcony: check the door seal and detergent drawer more often in the rainy season, May to November.
• On moving into a home that comes with a machine, or when a machine has stood unused for a long time.

• After reassembly a test cycle is run with you and the Up Report is sent; reply within 48 hours and any item that falls short is redone free of charge.

Enquiries, quotes, booking confirmations and the Up Report can all be in English. For an English-speaking specialist at your home, note it when you book; if we cannot arrange one, we say so in advance and support by phone or message.

Registering with reception

Many apartment buildings ask residents to register outside staff with building management beforehand. We send your specialist's name, photo and contact number so that you or reception can do it.

If nobody is home

You do not need to be home. A key can be left with building management, reception or family; only the assigned specialist handles it, the times are recorded and keys are never copied. For a smart lock we recommend a temporary code; the walk-through can be by video call.
