District 7 is now four wards: where woodworm surveys are scheduled
Four wards, the city's local administrative units, replaced District 7 on 1 July 2025 under Resolution 1685/NQ-UBTVQH15: Tan Hung, Tan My, Phu Thuan and Tan Thuan. Phu My Hung, an urban area of 433 hectares, sits in the first two. The project name or house number is enough when you message us.
In Tan My and Tan Hung, woodworm surveys run on a regular schedule, seven days a week from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM. For the other two wards a time slot has to be confirmed before the date is fixed.
- Tan My ward
- Midtown, Riviera Point at 584 Huynh Tan Phat, and the garden villas and townhouses around Crescent Lake.
- Tan Hung ward
- The Him Lam area by Kenh Te canal, Sunrise City (Nguyen Huu Tho street) and the area around RMIT University.
- Tan Thuan and Phu Thuan wards
- Eco Green Saigon, Q7 Saigon Riverside at 4 Dao Tri and the riverside residential areas. Please contact us first.
Low ground, a long rainy season, furniture that changes hands: where woodworm comes from in District 7
Woodworm is the common name for several small beetles. The damage is done by their larvae, which tunnel inside the timber, sometimes for many months before anything shows, so by the time you see holes and powder the insects have been in the wood for a while. Damp timber, bare wood and rattan are the most exposed.
In District 7 two things make woodworm worth watching. The first is damp: Nguoi Do Thi magazine (2023) records that the south of the city was marshland a little over three decades ago and remains low land affected by high tides. A good many developments sit on the Saigon River or along Kenh Te canal, the rainy season lasts from May to November, and ground-floor rooms and guest rooms kept shut for days take on a damp smell. The second is furniture that changes hands: Sunrise City sees many resales and many Phu My Hung apartments and villas are let furnished, with a new household at each lease, while woodworm travels in second-hand furniture, pallets and wooden crates.
Send us photos if furniture, a door frame or a stair tread shows pinhole-sized round holes or fine powder gathers beneath, and after buying second-hand, rattan or bamboo pieces.
Sunrise City apartments, Phu My Hung villas, shophouses: what the survey looks at
How each piece is treated is for UpClean's technicians to propose, and only after seeing it. Before anything is touched, the Up specialist asks about its finish and value, photographs it as found and moves it only if you agree.
- Apartments lived in for years
- At Sunrise City, Midtown and Riviera Point, wardrobes and bookshelves are where woodworm appears most often: the back and the inside are usually bare and the piece is seldom moved. Clothes and papers go into sealed bags, the floor and walls round the piece are covered, and neighbouring timber is checked too.
- Villas in My Kim, My Thai and Nam Vien
- Doors, frames, staircases and timber floors are surveyed along with the furniture, and holes in treads and door faces are logged as a baseline. Floorboards are lifted only with your written agreement.
- Shophouses trading on the ground floor
- On Ton Dat Tien, Nguyen Luong Bang and Nguyen Van Linh, the ground floor is often a shop, an office or a showroom. Timber on the shop floor and in the home above is surveyed in one visit, and treatment is booked for a closing day or for the hours before opening.
Holes and powder, or mud? Telling woodworm from termites on damp ground
The soil around foundations in District 7 stays moist, and termites are a familiar worry for homes with gardens or beside canals. Damaged timber is therefore not always woodworm, and the survey begins by settling which insect it is.
| What you see | What it points to |
|---|---|
| Small round holes with sharp edges, and very fine powder in little heaps below | Woodworm. It usually keeps to one piece of furniture or one board. |
| Mud tubes on walls and door frames, timber hollow inside and mixed with soil, wings shed round the lights after rain | Subterranean termites. The colony lives in a nest and can spread through the whole house. |
| Small, separate pellets like grains of pepper, with no soil | Drywood termites, whose droppings are coarser than woodworm powder. |
| Not sure | Leave everything as it is, do not sweep up the powder, and send close-up photos on WhatsApp or Zalo for a first opinion. |
| Termite control in District 7 | If the home already has mud tubes or hollow timber mixed with soil. |
From survey to Up Report: how a treatment runs
Applying insecticide products in a home is a regulated activity in Vietnam, so that part belongs to UpClean's technicians, working as the label and the regulations require. Preparation, covering and cleaning belong to the Up specialist. You deal with one company throughout.
- Survey: from your photos and a free visit, the technicians judge whether it is woodworm or termites and which pieces are still active.
- Plan and quote: a document lists each piece, the method, the re-entry time (how long to stay out of the treated area) and the all-inclusive price, for you to approve.
- Preparation: the Up specialist empties cupboards and covers the floor, walls and nearby furniture. Existing holes are marked and photographed as a baseline.
- Treatment: the technicians treat each listed piece, where it stands or separately if it is heavily infested, using only products with a valid registration number in Vietnam. The Up specialist is present throughout.
- Cleaning and report: the dust is vacuumed up, the timber is wiped as the technicians direct and everything goes back in place. The Up Report, our photo record of the visit, shows the marked holes and the follow-up schedule.
How the cost of woodworm treatment in District 7 is worked out
Every piece of timber is its own case, so a price exists only once the free survey has been done. The all-inclusive written quote sets out each piece, the method, the re-entry time, the follow-up checks and the warranty terms, and no change takes effect without your written consent. The price is built from:
- Number and size
- How many pieces, and how much timber floor and door area.
- Extent
- A few new holes, or timber already weakened.
- Method
- Treatment in place, or separate treatment for a heavily infested piece.
- Finish and value
- Lacquer, antique timber and altar pieces need more care.
- Dismantling and moving
- Floorboards or door leaves to take off, bulky furniture to shift.
- The Up specialist's share
- The amount of emptying, vacuuming and wiping involved.
- Warranty
- Terms and follow-up checks vary with the piece and the method and are written into the quote.
Managed towers, children and pets, and arranging it all in English
Many apartment buildings and managed estates in District 7 want service companies registered before they come in, and where products are used, management usually asks who is doing the work, for how long and which areas are affected. We send the Up specialist's name and photo and the technicians' details in advance. English is available for the enquiry, the plan, the quote, the booking confirmation and the Up Report. If you need an English speaker at your home, tell us when you book; if that cannot be arranged, we say so beforehand and support you by phone or message.
- A note sent before the visit names the areas to be treated and the time to keep away. Put away food, dishes and toys, cover the aquarium and move pets to another room for that period.
- Babies, pregnant women, older people and anyone with a respiratory condition leave the area until the technicians' stated time has passed.
- If you are away, a key may be left with building management, reception or family; only the assigned specialist holds it, and it is never duplicated.
- Payment comes after the walk-through, by cash or bank transfer; invoices are issued on request.
What you can do yourself, and how to book a survey
Vacuum up the powder and cover the old holes with paper tape, or mark them: new holes or fresh powder a few weeks later mean the woodworm is still active. Keep the affected piece away from sound ones, keep timber dry and off damp walls, air ground-floor and seldom-used rooms during the rainy season, and paint or varnish bare wood. Call for a survey when several pieces, a door or a floor are affected, when timber has weakened, when the piece is valuable, or when you cannot tell woodworm from termites.
- To book, message close-up photos of the holes, the powder and the piece itself to 0968 726 135 (WhatsApp or Zalo) and add your project name or address.
- If the team is over 15 minutes late, that visit's invoice drops by 10%. A booking changed or cancelled 24 hours or more ahead costs nothing; after that the cancellation fee is 30%.
