Woodworm treatment: your questions
Do you apply the treatment yourselves?+
No. Treatment with registered products is carried out by a licensed pest-control partner. UpClean surveys with them, protects your home, supervises, cleans afterwards and sends your Up Report.
How can I tell woodworm from termites?+
Woodworm leaves small round exit holes and very fine powder. Subterranean termites leave mud tubes, hollowed timber mixed with soil and discarded wings after rain. Send us close-up photos for a first opinion.
Do we have to move the furniture out?+
Usually not. Most pieces are treated in place; heavily infested items may need a separate plan, which is stated in the quote.
Will it damage the finish?+
The partner chooses a method suited to the finish, and for lacquerware or antiques we discuss any risks with you first. Each piece is photographed beforehand.
How much does it cost?+
You receive a fixed quote after a free survey, based on the number of items, extent, method and any dismantling needed. The price only changes with your written agreement.
How do we know the woodworm is gone?+
Existing holes are marked; if no new holes or fresh dust appear over the follow-up period, the infestation is no longer active. Follow-up visits are set out in the partner's quote.
Is it safe for children and pets?+
Before treatment you receive written instructions on treated areas, re-entry times and precautions for children, pets and food, following the licensed partner's guidance.
