Rug and carpet cleaning in Thao Dien — wool and hand-knotted rugs in villas and apartments

Thao Dien, the riverside neighbourhood of the former District 2, is no longer the name of a ward. On 1 July 2025 the city replaced its districts with reorganised wards, the local units on an address, and Resolution 1685/NQ-UBTVQH15 placed the whole of Thao Dien in the new An Khanh ward. A lease that says Thao Dien ward, District 2 is fine for booking.

Rugs are cleaned where they lie, so nothing is rolled up or driven away. We take bookings in Thao Dien from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM, seven days a week, from our office at 72 Nguyen Co Thach in Sala, in the same ward. Its main streets are Nguyen Van Huong, Quoc Huong, Xuan Thuy, Thao Dien street and Vo Nguyen Giap.

District 2 as a whole

The three wards of the former district.

Tuoi Tre newspaper reported in 2020 that nearly 6,000 foreign residents of 102 nationalities lived in Thao Dien. Many families move with each posting and bring their rugs with them. One villa may hold machine-woven wool under the dining table, a many-coloured hand-knotted rug bought on a trip in the living room and a long-pile rug in a child's room.

Wool — 60,000 VND per m²

A gentle solution, little water, thorough extraction and brushing with the pile; no stiff brushes.

Hand-knotted — 90,000 VND per m²

Each area of colour may be dyed differently, so the colour test matters more. Fringes are done by hand. A valuable rug, or one needing a full immersion wash, is examined first and you get clear advice.

These flatten, yellow or dry slowly. Send close-ups of the pile and the back so the rug can be assessed before we accept it.

At The Nassim, apartments were presented with marble floors and a private lift lobby. Marble is sensitive to acid and scratched by fine grit under shoes, so the rug at the entrance holds a good deal of it. When a rug is cleaned on stone, the floor, the skirting and nearby furniture are covered.

Gateway Thao Dien has many international families, and the start of the school year is a familiar date for cleaning the living-room rug where children play. At Masteri Thao Dien, compact apartments above a shopping centre and beside the metro, shoes carry dust in from public areas, so the rug by the door is the one to clean early. In the large apartments of Xi Riverview Palace, rugs are listed room by room. If furniture has to go back early, plastic pads under the legs stop rust or wood stain printing onto the damp pile.

Many Thao Dien villas have a garden and pool right beside the living room, and the neighbourhood lies on the Saigon River. In the rainy season, from May to November, humidity averages about 80%; a rug on a ground-floor stone floor dries slowly after each mopping and can develop a smell and dark spots underneath. Tuoi Tre reported in June 2025 that Quoc Huong, Nguyen Van Huong and Thao Dien streets run through low-lying land where heavy rain at high tide can leave 0.15–0.3 m of water for one to two hours.

A damp smell in the pile usually drops clearly after deep vacuuming, spray extraction and proper drying. If the backing or the floor beneath has been damp for a long time, your specialist tells you what was found and suggests how to raise the rug. The dirty water stays in the machine's tank and is never emptied onto the garden or into the pool.

• Mud: let it dry completely, then vacuum. Wiping it wet pushes it down to the base of the pile.
• Do not put a wool or hand-knotted rug out in strong sun to dry it faster.

Most homes let to foreigners in Thao Dien come furnished, and the landlord's rugs stay through one tenant after another. Rugs that belong to the home are worth cleaning and drying before the handover; a family moving in with young children who play on the floor should have them cleaned first. If you are leaving, have your own rugs cleaned before the packers come and roll them only when they are completely dry; for storage, roll with the pile and wrap in breathable cloth, not sealed plastic.

The cost is the area of each rug multiplied by the rate for its fibre (35,000 VND, 60,000 VND or 90,000 VND per m²), added up for every rug in the visit; a total below 350,000 VND is charged at that minimum. The sizes are for illustration only; fibre and area are confirmed again in your quote.

Small apartment at Masteri Thao Dien

One 1.6 × 2.3 m synthetic rug (3.68 m²): 128,800 VND by area, so the minimum of 350,000 VND applies.

Family apartment at Gateway Thao Dien

A 2 × 3 m wool rug in the living room and a 1.6 × 2.3 m synthetic rug in the children's room: 488,800 VND.

Stone-floored apartment at The Nassim

A 2.5 × 3.5 m hand-knotted rug (8.75 m²) and a 2 × 3 m wool bedroom rug: 1,147,500 VND.

Compound villa

A 3 × 4 m hand-knotted rug in the living room, a 2.5 × 3.5 m wool rug under the dining table and two 1.6 × 2.3 m synthetic rugs in the children's rooms: 1,862,600 VND.

Small office in a converted villa

Access

Many buildings ask residents to register outside staff with building management beforehand; we send your specialist's name and photo for this. You need not be home: a key can stay with building management, reception or family, and the walk-through, our joint check of the result, can be done by video call.

Small offices

Offices and showrooms in converted villas and townhouses usually have synthetic carpet tiles at 35,000 VND per m². Weekend visits let the carpet dry before the working week, and the VAT invoice goes to the person in charge.

Payment and changes

You pay after the walk-through, by bank transfer or cash. Rescheduling is free with 24 hours' notice; a later cancellation carries a 30% fee.
