Thao Dien: the ward, the homes and the hours
Thao Dien is now the name of a neighbourhood, no longer of a ward. Since 1 July 2025, when the city replaced districts with wards (its local administrative units), the whole of the old Thao Dien ward has belonged to An Khanh under Resolution 1685/NQ-UBTVQH15, the same ward as our Sala office. Older papers remain valid, so write the address either way.
We survey and treat from 07:00 to 20:00, seven days a week. The hour is set once the technicians have judged the job safe, and a nest is normally dealt with while the colony is quiet.

A walk round a Thao Dien villa: where to look, and when
The grounds of a villa here offer wasps and bees plenty of choice: big trees, a pergola, fences, deep eaves, a timber deck beside the pool. Nests are smallest in the dry season and when the rains begin (the rainy season lasts from May to November), so walk round then, or ask the gardener to, and look from a distance:
- The underside of eaves and river-facing verandas.
- Large and low branches, and hollows in old trunks.
- Window frames, unscreened vents, wall cavities and roof gaps.
- Pergolas, fences, outbuildings, and quiet corners where some species nest in the ground.
- Roof terraces and attics holding old crates and pots.
- Wasps
- Slender, narrow waist, yellow and black; a papery nest hanging free. Quick to react.
- Hornets and ground-nesting wasps
- Bigger; the nest is in a hollow tree, a wall or the soil and grows fast.
- Honeybees
- Small, hairy, golden brown, on wax comb; calm if left alone, so relocation is considered.

Why there is no same-day promise, and when a nest high in a tree is taken on
A wasp or hornet colony whose nest is touched may attack all together, and the venom is a greater danger to small children, older people and anyone with an allergic tendency. So we find out where the nest is and how it can be reached before we fix a date.
- While you wait, leave the nest alone (no poking, fire, hose or insect spray), shut nearby windows and balcony doors, keep children, staff and the gardener away and take pets inside.
- After a sting, move away from the nest; many stings, trouble breathing, marked swelling or dizziness mean ringing 115 or going straight to a medical facility.
- Low and within reach
- Ground-floor eaves, a low branch, the corner of a balcony. A technician in protective gear treats the nest, and removes it only when the colony has stopped moving.
- High in a tree, on a roof or on a high terrace
- We go ahead only when the nest can be reached safely, for instance from a fixed ladder, behind a railing or on a working platform, adding a safety harness if required. If that is not possible, the quote describes another way, such as access by dedicated lifting equipment.
- Inside a wall, a ceiling or a service duct
- The technicians first trace how the insects get in and out. A hatch or duct cover is opened only if you agree, and closed up after treatment.
Compounds, homes between tenants, cafes in converted villas, high terraces: on the day
The technicians follow the plan you approved, using products permitted in Vietnam; the Up specialist observes, photographs and tidies up.
- Villas with a garden and pool
- The whole grounds are surveyed. On the day an area round the nest is closed off, garden-side windows are shut, and children, older relatives and pets wait in a closed room until the time given in the plan.
- Compound houses
- The gate receives the Up specialist's name and photo and the technicians' details in advance; a nest in a shared part of the compound should be reported to its management too.
- Homes between tenants
- A rented house may stand closed between two leases while the owner is away. Before handover, have someone look over eaves, balconies and garden trees.
- Cafes, showrooms and offices in converted villas
- We come at a quiet hour between 07:00 and 20:00. Until then, keep customers and staff clear of the nest.
- High terraces and roof gardens
- Gateway Thao Dien has sky villas, garden villas and penthouses, and The Nassim has two penthouses of over 450 m² with a private pool and a rooftop barbecue area. For a terrace high up we ask for the building's rules, register with building management and never climb outside the railing.
Geckos at the veranda lights, crickets in the yard: fewer of them, and no poison
A gecko eats mosquitoes, ants and small cockroaches and does not harm people directly as insects can; the nuisance is droppings on walls, curtains and worktops. So we aim for fewer geckos indoors and fewer returning, not dead ones. By gardens and the river, insects multiply in hot, wet weather and fly to the lights, and the geckos go after them.
- Lights and food
- Fewer veranda and balcony lights, insect screens, and fewer mosquitoes and cockroaches: with less to eat, far fewer geckos stay.
- Ways in
- Gaps at garden doors and where aircon pipes pass, holes in walls, the backs of cupboards and picture frames; your Up Report lists each.
- Deter, catch, release
- Only safe deterrents are used, and a caught gecko is let go outdoors when possible. Poison bait is not used indoors, to keep small children and pets away from any risk.
- Crickets
- Crickets shelter in damp, dark places: drain chambers, gaps in paving, the foot of a tree, planters. Tuoi Tre (June 2025) reports that Quoc Huong, Nguyen Van Huong and Thao Dien streets lie on low ground where rain at high tide can stand for one to two hours, so yards nearby dry slowly. Outside, rotting leaves are cleared, drain covers kept closed and the area treated by our technicians with permitted products.

What a quote in Thao Dien depends on
We have no standard rate, since no two nests or gardens are alike. A nest within easy reach may be quoted from photos or a video; one high in a tree or inside a wall, or geckos and crickets throughout a villa, calls for a survey on site, which is free. The all-inclusive price reaches you in writing before any work and changes only if you agree in writing.
- The insect and the nest: wasp, hornet or honeybee; new or established.
- Height and access: ground floor, upper balcony, roof or tall tree; a fixed ladder or railing present, or lifting equipment called for.
- Position: exposed, or inside a wall, ceiling or duct that must be opened and closed again.
- Geckos and crickets: one room, the house, or house and garden.
- Follow-up and warranty: stated in the quote for the chosen method.
International residents and overseas owners
- English
- Enquiries, quotes, booking confirmations and the Up Report can all be in English. For an English-speaking specialist at the house, add a note when you book; if we cannot arrange one, we tell you beforehand and help by phone or message.
- Owner abroad
- Leave a key with building management, reception or a relative; the assigned specialist alone handles it and the times are logged. The walk-through can be a video call.
- Payment
- You pay after the walk-through, by transfer or in cash; invoices are issued on request under Vietnamese regulations.
Afterwards, and how to book
- To discourage new nests, close up wall cavities, roof gaps and unscreened vents, keep bins covered and bring in sweet drinks, ripe fruit and pet food.
- To book, message 0968 726 135 on WhatsApp or Zalo with a photo taken from a safe distance and your street or compound name.
- A booking can be changed or cancelled free up to 24 hours ahead; later than that the fee is 30%.
