Where Phu My Hung is, and which ward it belongs to now
Phu My Hung is a 433-hectare urban area in the south of Ho Chi Minh City, inside the former District 7. Districts ceased on 1 July 2025 under Resolution 1685/NQ-UBTVQH15, and the city is now divided into wards, its local administrative units; land that was in Tan Phu and Tan Phong wards went to the new Tan My and Tan Hung wards.
Our team is in both wards regularly. A survey can be fixed for any day between 7:00 AM and 8:00 PM, while building work has to follow the rules of your estate or building. A title deed or lease in the old ward's name is fine.
- Villas and townhouses
- My Kim, My Thai and Nam Vien, and the rows of houses beside Crescent Lake.

Villa yards after ten or fifteen years: redoing the garden while the house is renovated
The urban area went up in stages, and some homes have been lived in for more than fifteen years. After that long, many families renovate: new kitchen cabinets, new timber floors, added panelling. If the garden is redone in the same round, the order of work matters.
- Decide what stays
- The specialist goes over the front and back yards and says which plants to leave and which worn parts to rebuild: the drainage, the soil or the lawn.
- Underground first
- Drainage channels and pipes, irrigation lines and cable conduit go in before soil, paths and plants. The lawn comes last so that it is not trampled.
- Phases to suit the budget
- Round one covers groundworks, soil and the trees that frame the garden; flowers, decorative lights and features wait for round two, and nothing finished is dug up again.
- When the crew leaves
- Rubble and surplus soil are taken off site. The house itself can have a post-construction clean alongside the garden work or after it.

A green district on low ground: a way out for water, plants for the shade
Nguoi Do Thi magazine wrote in 2023 that Phu My Hung keeps its building density under 30%, with about 8.9 m² of greenery per person; that the south of the city was marshland over three decades ago and remains low and tidal; and that the urban area floods little thanks to its tide gates. Many trees on low ground mean soil that dries slowly round the house and a yard with plenty of shade, and the design starts there.
| Problem | How the design deals with it |
|---|---|
| Water with nowhere to go | Levels, existing drain gullies and the run to the shared system are measured first. The answer may be a corrected fall, added channels, a gravel drainage layer or buried pipes; a yard that holds water rots roots, kills grass and breeds mosquitoes. |
| Shade under trees and by walls | Ferns, pothos and peace lily do better than grass. A lawn short of sun thins out and can give way to ground cover or gravel. |
| Sunny corners | Bougainvillea, shrubs with coloured leaves and a sun-loving grass. Near foundations and pipes, only species with suitable roots. |
| A new lawn | Loose topsoil with a slight fall towards the drain; turf firmed lightly, watered thoroughly and left unwalked while it roots. How soon it closes over depends on the variety, the season and the watering. |
Penthouse roofs, duplexes and apartment balconies, development by development
In an apartment the green space is a roof terrace, a balcony or a loggia. Three checks come first: the load the floor can take, its waterproofing and the building's rules. Heavy items need a structural designer's and the management's opinion.
- Sky Garden
- The penthouses here measure about 174–500 m² (CafeF) and often have a roof terrace or wide balcony exposed to sun and rain. The garden is built from lightweight pots and planters, never soil on the bare floor. Nguyen Van Linh boulevard jams at peak hours, so deliveries avoid them.
- Happy Valley
- Two-storey duplexes of 170–325 m² and penthouses of about 239 m², according to CafeLand. It looks onto a golf course and a landscaped river and borders a park, and wind carries dry leaves and pollen into the loggias; every planter and pot is given a drainage layer.
- Midtown
- The Peak stands next to Sakura Park and a wide stretch of river; balconies catch the wind, and afternoon sun lingers at the glass doors. Windy, glaring spots suit low plants with flexible stems in light pots, firmly fixed.
- Procedures
- Buildings usually want workers registered in advance, ID checked in the lobby and a lift assigned for materials; some restrict construction-type work at weekends. UpClean is independent of the developer and of these buildings' managers.
Timed irrigation and garden lighting: the items that need power and water
- Automatic irrigation
- Drip for planters and pots, mist for plants that like moisture, sprinklers for lawn, with a timer adjusted by season. In a planted garden the pipe route is picked to disturb as little as possible.
- Lighting
- Connected by a suitably certified electrician: outdoor fittings, cable inside conduit, a residual-current device on the circuit. Have it checked now and then, and never take a fitting apart with the power on.
What a garden estimate in Phu My Hung is based on
No single rate applies: remaking the grounds of a My Thai villa and placing a few planters on an apartment balcony are very different jobs. After the free survey you receive an estimate listing each item, the type and size of plants, the materials and the schedule, with one all-inclusive price that changes only with your written agreement.
- A larger project may carry a deposit, stated in the quote; the balance is settled after the handover inspection, by bank transfer or cash.
- Warranty on workmanship and plants follows what the contract or quote says; anything below standard at inspection is put right before handover.
| Factor | Why the estimate differs |
|---|---|
| Present condition | A bare yard, or an old garden to dismantle; how much rubble and poor soil is carted away. |
| Plants | A large shade tree or a specimen plant costs more than a small one to buy, move and plant. |
| Groundworks | Length of drainage, irrigation zones, type of nozzle, number of lights. |
| Materials | Paving, gravel, edging, large planters: which kind, and how much. |
| Getting materials in | A roof terrace or balcony means the lift, in the hours the building or estate sets. |
International residents: rented villas, English, handover and booking
Phu My Hung has a large foreign community, and many of its villas are let furnished; the gap between two leases is a convenient time to redo a garden. An owner living elsewhere can hand access to a representative and approve the concept by message. The concept, quotes and the Up Report, our before-and-after photo record, can all be in English. If you want an English speaker on site, say so when booking; when we cannot provide one we tell you first and assist by phone or message. Up specialists, UpClean's own staff, are identity-verified and trained to the Up Standard, and their names and photos are sent before work starts.
At the handover inspection you are shown the irrigation timer and given a care plan for the first period, while the plants are still rooting. To arrange a survey, call or message 0968 726 135 on WhatsApp or Zalo with photos of the space.
