Mosquito control in An Phu, District 2 — apartments, townhouses, garden villas

An Phu on this page is the An Phu neighbourhood of the former District 2 in Ho Chi Minh City, part of Thu Duc City from 2021 to 2025. It is not An Phu Dong ward of the former District 12.

An Phu ward is no longer on the map. Since 1 July 2025 the city has had wards instead of districts, and Resolution 1685/NQ-UBTVQH15 split the old ward in two: one part went to Binh Trung ward (Article 1, Clause 76), the rest to An Khanh ward together with Thu Thiem, An Loi Dong, Thao Dien and the old An Khanh (Clause 78). The resolution does not describe the line inside the old ward, so each address has to be checked individually.

We take mosquito surveys in both wards between 07:00 and 20:00 every day, from our office at 72 Nguyen Co Thach in Sala, An Khanh ward. Documents drawn up before the change remain in use under Resolution 190/2025/QH15, so give the address as your papers show it, 'An Phu ward, District 2' included, and we match it.

Masteri An Phu

179 Hanoi Highway, now Vo Nguyen Giap Street. The developer gives the address as the old Thao Dien ward, which merged entirely into An Khanh: now An Khanh ward.

The Vista An Phu

An Phu mixes two kinds of housing. Along Vo Nguyen Giap Street stand the towers: Masteri An Phu, two 42-storey towers presented by the developer with a pool of about 500 m² and a sky garden of about 1,300 m², and The Vista An Phu, five 28-storey towers overlooking the Saigon River. On the Song Hanh side are the low-rise estates: Lakeview City, with terraced townhouses, semi-detached villas and a 3.6-hectare landscape lake at its centre, and Palm City, with townhouses and villas beside the Giong Ong To River and the Muong Kinh canal.

Trees and water keep the area cool; they also explain the mosquitoes. Adults shelter by day under dense foliage and in shady garden corners; eggs are laid where water stands after rain, in plant saucers, gutters and water features.

Not every apartment needs spraying. It is mostly units on low floors, near the river or greenery, or with many balcony pots that get mosquitoes; indoors, most have flown in from the balcony or hatched in water nobody notices. Check the first three points below; if the home is dry and mosquitoes persist, the survey establishes what needs treating.

At a townhouse or villa, your Up specialist walks the property with you or your gardener, clears what is within safe reach and notes a high roof or gutter without access for a separate survey.

Balcony and loggia

Plant saucers, water-plant bowls, the aircon drip tray, the floor drain grate.

Indoors

Vases, the tray under the fridge, bathroom buckets. By day mosquitoes rest behind curtains, under beds and in wardrobes.

Doors and insect screens

Torn screens on windows and balcony doors; gaps around aircon pipes through the wall.

Yards, garden, roof terrace

Empty pots, tree hollows, tarpaulins, outdoor toys; gutters and rainwater outlets blocked with leaves; a water tank with a loose lid.

Water features and pools

Decorative jars, a fountain long switched off, a pool out of use. A fish pond is noted so the technicians mark it as an area to avoid.

UpClean's own pest-control technicians do the spraying and choose the method once they have seen the property and who lives in it. Products come only from the list permitted in Vietnam, hold a valid registration number and are used as the label directs. The plan sent beforehand states the product, the areas to be sprayed and the re-entry time — how long to stay out of a treated area.

Space spraying

A fine mist that brings adult mosquito numbers down quickly at the moment of spraying. Short-lived, so usually considered before an outdoor party or when numbers are very high.

Resting sites

Low shrubs, the underside of foliage, shady terrace corners, under outdoor stairs; marked out to keep clear of play areas and anything grown to eat.

Water that cannot be removed

For gullies and landscape ponds the technicians decide spot by spot. Water with fish in it is not treated directly, so tell us before the survey.

A low-chemical plan

Ask at the survey; the technicians consider a biological or low-chemical treatment within the permitted list, always with standing water cleared.

Mosquito control has no published price list. A low-floor apartment with a balcony and a villa with a garden and water features are very different jobs, so we survey first, free of charge, then send an all-inclusive quote in writing with the area to be sprayed, the method, the re-entry time and the repeat schedule. The figure changes only with your written agreement. Rescheduling or cancelling is free with at least 24 hours' notice; after that the cancellation fee is 30%.

Enquiries, quotes, booking confirmations and the Up Report can all be in English. For an English speaker at the home, add a note when you book; if we cannot arrange one, we say so in advance and support you by phone or message.

Registering the visit

Buildings usually have rules for contractors: register beforehand, declare the equipment and products brought in, work only in permitted hours. We send your Up specialist's name and photo and our technicians' details in advance, and complete the formalities when the building requires it.

If you are away

You need not be at home. Leave a key with building management, reception or family: only the assigned specialist handles it, the times are recorded and keys are never copied. For a smart lock we recommend a temporary code; the walk-through can be done by video call.

Payment

After the walk-through, by bank transfer or cash, directly to UpClean; we are not a contractor of the developer or operator of Masteri An Phu or The Vista An Phu. Any deposit for a larger job is stated in the quote; VAT invoices are issued on request.

Whether it is one treatment before an event or repeat treatments through the rainy season, from about May to November, the household prepares in the same way:

• To book, call or message 0968 726 135 on WhatsApp or Zalo with photos of the balcony, garden and any water features, plus your project name or address.
• At the survey, tell us how many young children live in the home, whether anyone is elderly or has a respiratory condition, and whether there are dogs, cats, pet birds, a fish pond or a beehive in the garden.
• During outdoor spraying the family usually only needs to close the windows and doors facing the garden and stay indoors for the time given.
• Beforehand, bring in laundry, outdoor toys and pets' food bowls; fish ponds, water-plant bowls and the household water tank are covered as the technicians instruct.
• Garden vegetables and fruit are picked again only after the interval the technicians give.
• Children and pets return outdoors only when the re-entry time in the plan has passed; your Up specialist then wipes the outdoor furniture and play area and sends the Up Report.
• In rain or strong wind the spraying is usually postponed. Between treatments, empty plant saucers, change vase water and turn over unused buckets every week.
