Thirteen old wards, five new ones: where we take termite bookings
District 9 was created from Thu Duc District at the start of 1997, became part of Thu Duc City on 1 January 2021 and, on 1 July 2025, under Resolution 1685/NQ-UBTVQH15, had its thirteen wards regrouped into five. Title deeds and building contracts may still read "Phu Huu ward, District 9" or "Long Thanh My ward, Thu Duc City"; give us whichever address you know.
We take surveys and treatments throughout the former district, 07:00 to 20:00 every day. District 9 is not among our regular-schedule areas, so the exact time is confirmed when you book.

New houses on old garden land: why a recently built home can have termites
The former District 9 covered almost 114 km² with about 310,000 people in 2019, far less densely settled than the inner districts, and much of its open land was orchard, paddy and perennial crops. Over the past twenty-odd years plots have been partly converted for townhouses and garden houses; in Long Truong, Long Phuoc and the former Truong Thanh, a new three-storey house beside a neighbour's fruit orchard is not unusual.
Subterranean termites live on wood and other cellulose in damp soil. Guidance for homebuilders from Mississippi State University (USA) stresses clearing stumps, roots and wood debris before pouring foundations, and removing wooden stakes and formwork afterwards, since untreated wood buried in soil is a serious risk. On old garden land, fruit-tree stumps, rotted roots and forgotten formwork under the slab are ready food, so mud tubes can climb the wall of a house only a few years old. Riverside soil stays damp through the May to November rains, and a neighbour's garden can shelter a colony right at the boundary.
- Thin soil trails rising from the joint between floor tiles and the ground-floor wall, above all on the garden side.
- Kitchen or built-in cabinets a few years old going soft at the base, with soil on the back panel.
- Door frames, stairs or ground-floor timber flooring that sound hollow when tapped.
- Odd mounds of soil around an old stump in the yard, or in a planter built on garden soil.
- Winged termites around the porch light at dusk after the first rains of the season.

Townhouse, garden home or apartment: who does what on the day
UpClean's technicians propose the method after the survey: bait and bait stations, spot residual treatment, treatment of the floor slab and base of walls, or a combination. Your Up specialist, the identity-verified UpClean staff member assigned to your home, handles the rest:
- New townhouse on converted land
- The technicians trace wall bases, floor joints, service ducts and the space under the stairs, and ask what the plot was before building. Your Up specialist clears space and covers new kitchen units and furniture.
- Garden house or garden villa
- The survey takes in the yard, stumps, timber huts, wooden fences and the tool store. Any bait station outside is marked on the plan in your Up Report, so that a gardener does not dig it up.
- Apartment in a new urban area
- Termites can travel up service shafts and in-wall conduit. Your Up specialist prepares the papers for registration with management, covers floors and wardrobes, and cleans as the safety instructions require.
- Rooms let near the Hi-Tech Park
- Rows of rooms can be treated in turn, at times that fit the tenants' working hours, with each room's belongings photographed as found.
- House still being finished
- A good moment for the technicians to assess the house and suggest prevention.
How termite control in District 9 is quoted
There is no single figure: a few mud tubes at the foot of a townhouse's kitchen units and a nest in a stump on a large garden property are very different jobs. The survey is free. The all-inclusive quote that follows in writing sets out the method, the areas, the re-entry time (how long a treated area must stay empty), the follow-up inspections and the warranty terms, and nothing is added unless you agree in writing. The price depends on:
- The home and its size, and whether the garden, stumps, huts and fences need treating too.
- How far the termites have spread, the method proposed and the return visits to monitor and add bait.
- How much the finishes are disturbed: drilling the floor, removing skirting or opening a ceiling.
- The covering, clearing and cleaning your Up specialist carries out.
Before and after treatment: estates, garden gates and habits on garden land
Urban areas and apartment blocks commonly require contractors to register with management, often with set hours and routes. We send your Up specialist's name and photo, with our technicians' details, for you to pass to reception or security. At a garden house, tell us the entrance, parking and any side gate. Follow-up inspections are booked as the quote sets out, and we remind you of each one.
- Before: put food, dishes and toys in closed cupboards, and keep pets and poultry away from treated areas for the time our technicians give.
- Before: ask the gardener not to water or dig around bait stations; do not wash treated spots or open a station.
- After: keep firewood, old boards and dry branches off the walls, and dig out dead stumps or ask us about them.
- After: keep garden soil below the base of the walls, fix leaks early, and have builders remove formwork and wooden stakes from any new work.
- At the start of each rainy season: check the foot of kitchen units and door frames on the garden side with a torch.
