Eleven old wards, five new ones: Tan Phu after 2025
Tan Phu District was split from Tan Binh District under Decree 130/2003/ND-CP and created on 5 November 2003 with 11 wards. Since 1 July 2025, when wards replaced districts as the city's local units (Resolution 1685/NQ-UBTVQH15), it has been five wards, though one piece of the old Son Ky ward went to Binh Hung Hoa ward, which also takes in land from the former Binh Tan.
Tan Phu is not on our regular rota, so surveys there are by appointment. Bookings are accepted anywhere in the former district, that Son Ky part included, from 07:00 to 20:00 daily; the time is fixed when you book, clear of production hours for a workshop.
- Tay Thanh ward
- The old Tay Thanh plus part of Son Ky; Tan Binh Industrial Park lies here.
- Tan Son Nhi ward
- Tan Son Nhi, what remained of Son Ky, and parts of Tan Quy and Tan Thanh.
- Phu Tho Hoa ward
- Phu Tho Hoa with part of Tan Thanh and the rest of Tan Quy; site of the Phu Tho Hoa tunnels.
- Tan Phu ward
- Phu Trung, Hoa Thanh, part of Tan Thoi Hoa and the rest of Tan Thanh, next to the former District 11.
- Phu Thanh ward
- Hiep Tan, Phu Thanh and the rest of Tan Thoi Hoa: dense alley homes around Luy Ban Bich and Thoai Ngoc Hau.
Workshops next to bedrooms: why homes and workshops here attract termites
In 2019 Tan Phu housed more than 485,000 people on less than 16 km², over 30,000 per km², among the densest districts in the city. Many alley and street-front houses double as small joineries, garment workshops, storerooms or print shops, with the family on the other side of a single wall.
Such a workshop holds what termites look for: timber blanks, plywood, sawdust, paper, cardboard, fabric rolls and wooden pallets on the floor. Stock stacked high and seldom shifted hides mud tubes for months. University of Florida (UF/IFAS) material on the Asian subterranean termite notes that it needs timber or moist soil to nest and can carry nest material into hollow wood or voids in a building. Through a shared wall, termites from a stockroom can reach the bedrooms and kitchen cabinets next door.
- Bottom pallets and timber shelving that crumble and lift with soil attached.
- Mud tubes climbing the wall shared by the workshop and the living space.
- Winged termites around workshop or porch lights on rainy-season evenings.

Joinery, garment workshop, storeroom or townhouse: how each job is organised
UpClean's technicians propose the method after the survey: bait and monitoring stations, spot residual treatment, soil treatment or a mix. Your Up specialist, the UpClean staff member assigned to your premises, adapts the preparation:
- Small joineries and furniture workshops
- The technicians check the timber store, sanding area, sawdust corner and finished pieces; your Up specialist clears the area, sheets over the machines and photographs where finished items stand.
- Garment workshops and print shops
- Fabric rolls and paper stock come off the walls zone by zone and are covered; cutting tables and sewing machines are protected, then wiped down before the workers return.
- Ground-floor storerooms
- A route is opened to the base of every wall. Any monitoring station is marked in the Up Report, the photo record we send after each visit, so that staff leave it in place.
- Townhouses, shophouses and apartments
- The inspection runs from ground floor to roof terrace, under the stairs, the mezzanine and shared walls included; a shop can be done outside opening hours. In apartments termites can use service shafts; we prepare the registration details for the management office.
What termite control costs in Tan Phu, and what the quote depends on
We publish no fixed price, because a flat with a few mud tubes behind the kitchen cabinets and a joinery of a few hundred square metres with termites in its timber store are not comparable jobs. The survey is free. The all-inclusive written quote states the method, the areas, the re-entry time (how long a treated area has to stay empty), the follow-up inspections and the warranty terms, and it changes only with your written agreement. Businesses can request a VAT invoice.
- Kind of premises: home, shophouse, workshop, storeroom or apartment.
- Floor area, storeys, and how much stock and machinery must be moved or covered.
- Spread: one spot, several zones of a workshop, or already into the house next door.
- The method, its follow-up visits, and whether the work must avoid production hours or be split into sessions.
- The warranty period, which depends on the method and is written into the quote.
Getting ready for treatment day, and what we commit to
Most Tan Phu homes and workshops have no management office, but workers, neighbours behind a shared wall and deliveries still need planning. Where a building registers outside staff, we send your Up specialist's name and photo, with our technicians' details, for you to pass on.
- Choose a day outside production shifts and let workers and storeroom staff know.
- If possible, clear piled-up sawdust, offcuts and waste paper before the survey.
- Shut food, workers' meals included, in closed cupboards; people and pets keep out for the re-entry time given.
- Afterwards, do not sweep or mop the treated points or move monitoring stations until told.
- On our side: one contact from survey to invoice, identity-verified specialists trained to the Up Standard, moved stock photographed so it goes back in place, and 10% off that visit if your specialist is over 15 minutes late.
