Termite surveys in District 6: the four wards we cover
The former District 6 went through two boundary changes in 2025, the second on 1 July under Resolution 1685/NQ-UBTVQH15, which regrouped it into four wards, the local units that replaced districts. Many stalls still print the old address on invoices; the house number and street name are all we need.
Survey bookings are taken in all four wards between 07:00 and 20:00 every day, at a slot confirmed when you book and kept clear of loading times on the market streets.
- Binh Tay
- The old Wards 2 and 9, named after Binh Tay Market, which the merchant Quach Dam built, and ringed by wholesale shophouses.
- Binh Tien
- The old Wards 1, 7 and 8: terraced houses, roadside shops and alleys, with many homes that also trade.
- Binh Phu
- The largest of the four, joining the old Wards 10 and 11 with part of Ward 16 of the former District 8; Vo Van Kiet Avenue crosses it.
- Phu Lam
- The old Wards 12, 13 and 14, north of Binh Phu: multi-storey alley townhouses and shops on the main roads.
Wholesale storerooms: how termites damage stock without being seen
Around Binh Tay Market, in the traditional Cho Lon area, the ground floor of a shophouse is a shop or storeroom and the floors above are home. Packaging, paper, plastics, dry goods and fabric sit in cartons on timber pallets or shelving built on site. To termites, that is a large food supply that is seldom moved.
Storerooms are closed, dark and tightly packed, and owners seldom get to look at the base of the walls or the underside of a pallet.Subterranean termites travel inside mud tubes and keep out of the light, so they can hollow out the bottom of a stack of cartons over several weeks while the top looks untouched. By the time it is found, shelving, partitions and door frames are often affected too.
University of Florida (UF/IFAS) material on the Asian subterranean termite, native to Southeast Asia, names the foraging mud tube as an early sign and notes that these termites can carry nest material into voids in timber or the building. In a terrace with shared walls, that may be the gap between party walls or the space under the stairs.
- Carton bottoms that are damp, soft or gritty with soil, the paper inside eaten in layers.
- Soil trails climbing pallets or shelving that stand on the floor.
- Timber partitions, or the frame around the roller shutter, sounding hollow when tapped.
- Winged termites around the shop lights on an evening after the first rains.

Shop floor, family floors and alley houses: how the work is organised
UpClean's technicians decide the method only after seeing every corner. Your Up specialist, the UpClean team member who prepares, protects and cleans, adapts to the premises:
- Shop and storeroom
- You agree which areas to clear and which goods to cover or move. Each shelf is photographed first so that it goes back in the same order.
- Living floors above
- Technicians check under the stairs, the mezzanine, door frames and built-in cupboards; beds and wardrobes are covered.
- Alley tube houses in Phu Lam and Binh Tien
- Tools stay in one place. Points along a wall shared with a neighbour are listed separately in the Up Report, our photo record of the visit.
- Townhouses in Binh Phu
- The front yard, planters and boundary wall are checked too, where damp soil meets the structure.
- Altars
- Nothing on an altar is moved without asking the family; it is photographed and returned to its exact place.
What termite control costs in District 6, and how the quote is built
There is no single figure: a mud tube behind one wardrobe and a storeroom eaten from the pallets up to the partitions are different jobs. The survey is free. The written all-inclusive quote sets out the method, the areas, the re-entry time (how long a treated area must stay empty), the follow-up inspections and the warranty terms, and nothing is added without your written agreement. The price depends on:
- The size of the shop or storeroom and the number of floors above it.
- Whether the termites are in one corner or have spread across shelves, floors or next door.
- How much stock has to be cleared, covered or moved.
- Shelving, partitions or mezzanine floors that must be drilled or partly removed.
- The method chosen and its follow-up inspections.

Busy streets and deep alleys: preparing for treatment day
Here the obstacles are usually the rhythm of trade rather than building rules: deliveries, crowded pavements and the market's busy hours. Where an apartment building or managed estate registers contractors, we send the specialist's name and photo, with the technicians' details, for you to pass on.
- Pick a day with few deliveries and tell us when the shop closes.
- Stack goods into blocks and leave a strip clear along the walls, as the technicians direct.
- Seal food and dry goods; put dishes and children's toys away.
- Warn the neighbouring stall if work is planned along a shared wall.
- Staff, family and pets stay out for the re-entry time given.
- Afterwards, leave bait and monitoring stations alone and do not wipe treated points until told.
Between inspections: storeroom habits that help
The technicians return at the points set in the quote, and we remind you beforehand. Meanwhile:
- Raise pallets on plastic or metal feet, and leave a gap between stock and walls for checking with a torch.
- Sell the oldest stock first and throw out broken pallets and old cartons.
- Repair leaks in the roof, terrace or drainpipes early.
- If the stall next door has just been treated, ask us to look at yours.
