Which wards the former District 8 became, and how surveys are booked
Resolution 1685/NQ-UBTVQH15 took effect on 1 July 2025 and regrouped most of the former District 8 into three wards, the small administrative units that replaced districts: Chanh Hung, Phu Dinh and Binh Dong. Some of the old Ward 16 was absorbed into Binh Phu ward and Tan Nhut commune, the remnant of the old Ward 7 into Binh Hung commune. Earlier that year Wards 1–3 had been combined as Rach Ong, 8–10 as Hung Phu and 11–13 as Xom Cui.
With an address that may have changed twice in a year, a house number, street or building name is all we need. Termite surveys here are by appointment: we accept them anywhere in the former district, from 07:00 to 20:00 daily, and fix the exact time when you book.
- Chanh Hung
- Put together from Ward 4, Rach Ong, Hung Phu and part of Ward 5. Its houses along the north bank of the Doi Canal await a new look: renovation of roughly 4.3 km of that bank began in mid-August 2025.
- Phu Dinh
- Put together from Wards 14 and 15, Xom Cui and part of Ward 16. It runs along Ben Binh Dong beside the Tau Hu Canal, where new apartment projects have gone up.
- Binh Dong
- Put together from Ward 6, part of Ward 7, the remainder of Ward 5 and the former An Phu Tay commune; long-established alley houses stand beside newly levelled residential areas.
Damp ground by the canals, raised floors: why termites are hard to shake off
The old District 8 is low land laced with the Tau Hu, Lo Gom, Doi and Te canals. Close to 10 km of Tau Hu – Lo Gom embankment now carries walkways and trees, yet the ground under the rows of houses stays damp all year. That suits subterranean termites: University of Florida (UF/IFAS) material on the Asian subterranean termite, a species native to Southeast Asia, says they need wood or moist soil to found a colony and die readily when they dry out.
Thanh Nien reported that on the evening of 16 November 2024 a high tide again flowed into homes on Phu Dinh street, in the old Ward 16, including some with raised floors. Raising floors and doorways is familiar work here, and each round leaves new fill, old brickwork and low door frames meeting in hidden cracks and voids that termites can follow up the wall bases, into door frames and under the stairs. Boards and cabinets softened by floodwater are a common starting point for a colony.
In the new apartments along Ben Binh Dong, concrete limits the way in, but termites can still appear in kitchen cabinets, door frames and timber floors, or arrive in furniture from a previous home. Surveying at the first sign keeps the treated area smaller.
- Ground-floor door frames set low to the floor, crumbling at the foot, with paint flaking in streaks.
- Brown soil trails along the base of a wall or the mortar joints of a raised floor.
- Timber stairs or a mezzanine that sound hollow when tapped, with fine soil dropping beneath.

Raised-floor houses, alley houses, canal-side apartments: preparing each
After the survey our technicians propose spot treatment, bait stations, soil treatment or a combination. Your Up specialist, the UpClean staff member who looks after the house, handles preparation and clean-up:
- Canal-side house with a raised floor
- The technicians focus on the joint between old and new floor, the wall bases and low door frames. Your Up specialist clears the wall bases, covers ground-floor furniture and records every treated point. Timber mezzanines are drilled only with your written agreement.
- Tube house in a narrow alley
- Equipment comes in compactly; points along the wall shared with next door are logged separately for later follow-up.
- Apartment on Ben Binh Dong
- Checks usually cover kitchen cabinets, door frames, timber floors and service shafts. We prepare contractor-registration papers if management asks.
- Street-front shop or eatery
- Usually booked between two trading sessions, with ingredients stored away and the kitchen and counter sheeted over first.
What termite control costs in District 8, and what the quote depends on
Every address is priced on its own: a new apartment with termites in one door frame and a canal-side house where they have climbed from the soil to the mezzanine cannot share a figure. The survey is free. The written all-inclusive quote then sets out the method, the treated areas, the re-entry time (how long people and pets stay out), the follow-up inspections and the warranty terms, and nothing changes without your written agreement. It depends on:
- Floor area, storeys and type of home: raised-floor house, tube house or apartment.
- Spread: one spot, or from the ground up through several floors.
- How much mezzanine, staircase or built-in cabinetry must be drilled or opened.
- The floor and wall-base area, if the plan includes soil treatment, and the number of return inspections.

Who does what, and keeping termites away between inspections
UpClean's own technicians apply the products, following the label and regulations; UpClean has declared its eligibility to provide pest-control services as required by regulation, and the declaration and product information are available on request. Your Up specialist, identity-verified and trained to the Up Standard, covers furniture, photographs its condition, cleans and puts everything back. One WhatsApp or Zalo number serves you from first message to last follow-up.
Our technicians return at the points set in the quote; we remind you and record each result. Where damp cannot be avoided, these habits help the treatment last:
- After a high tide or flooding, dry and check cabinet feet and ground-floor door frames.
- Stand timber wardrobes and beds on legs, a few centimetres from the wall.
- Do not store offcuts or cardboard in the back yard, under the stairs or against the canal-side wall.
- Repair seepage early in shared walls, drain pipes and the roof terrace, and tell us before raising the floor or renovating.
Booking a survey and getting ready for the day
- Send a few photos of what you have found to 0968 726 135 on WhatsApp or Zalo, with your address or building name. Leave mud tubes intact and do not spray.
- We schedule our technicians and confirm a free survey; you then read the quote, plan and time away from home in writing before choosing a date.
- The day before, you receive a preparation list: clear wall bases and the space under the stairs, put food away, warn the neighbours if a point is on a shared wall, and tell us the way in if the canal road is fenced off.
- Afterwards, leave treated wall bases unmopped and bait stations in place. Pay after the check, in cash or by transfer; rescheduling is free with 24 hours' notice.
