Which wards the former District 8 became, and how surveys are booked
A first round of mergers in January 2025 produced Rach Ong, Hung Phu and Xom Cui wards. On 1 July 2025 the city replaced districts with wards as its local units, and Resolution 1685/NQ-UBTVQH15 reorganised most of District 8 into Chanh Hung, Phu Dinh and Binh Dong. Outside those three, part of the old ward 16 joined Binh Phu ward and Tan Nhut commune, and Binh Hung commune took the rest of the old ward 7.
The street and number, or the building name, is all we need. Surveys are taken across the whole former district between 7:00 AM and 8:00 PM daily; we arrange the technical team first, then confirm the exact time with you.
- Chanh Hung
- Built from the old ward 4, Rach Ong, Hung Phu and a piece of ward 5; townhouse rows on the Doi canal's north bank, where works on about 4.3 km began in August 2025.
- Phu Dinh
- Built from the old wards 14 and 15, Xom Cui and a piece of ward 16; Ben Binh Dong and its new apartment buildings along the Tau Hu canal.
- Binh Dong
- Built from the old ward 6, the rest of ward 5, part of ward 7 and An Phu Tay commune: old alley houses mixed with newer residential areas.
Canal greenery outside, standing water inside
The former District 8 sits on low land crossed by the Tau Hu, Doi, Te and Lo Gom canals. Nearly 10 km of embankment along Tau Hu and Lo Gom now carries footpaths and trees past Phu Dinh, Me Coc and Ben Binh Dong. Foliage, low shrubs and shade are where adult mosquitoes rest by day, and they can also fly in from outside, so for a house by a canal one spraying lowers numbers only for a period.
Breeding usually happens on the property itself. In a tube house (a narrow house several storeys high), check roof-terrace plant pots, the back yard, gutters, drain pits and aircon drip trays; on a canal-facing loggia, plant saucers and the floor drain. The tide still gets into some low streets: Thanh Nien newspaper reported water rising on Phu Dinh street on the evening of 16 November 2024, reaching even houses with raised floors. After a high tide or heavy rain, containers round the house stay full unless someone empties them.
Tube houses, raised-floor homes, apartments and shops: how the survey differs
Our technicians choose the spraying method after the survey. What your Up specialist, the UpClean staff member assigned to your home, checks and prepares depends on the building:
- Canal-side townhouses
- Front balcony, roof terrace, back yard and the wall facing the canal are inspected; standing water within safe reach is emptied, and anything on a high roof is noted for a separate survey.
- Tube houses in narrow alleys
- If indoor areas are treated, the plan says how long to stay out; warn the house next door an hour ahead.
- Ground floors that have flooded
- Containers still holding tidal water and drain pits are checked, and furniture covered before spraying.
- Apartments on Ben Binh Dong
- The loggia comes first: plant saucers, aircon drip tray, floor drain. If spraying is needed, we survey and complete the paperwork building management asks for.
- Shops and restaurants
- Booked outside trading hours, with food and tableware put away and counters covered as the technicians direct.
Dengue: why standing water comes before spraying
According to Vietnam's Ministry of Health and the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City, dengue is carried by the striped Aedes mosquito, which lays eggs in fairly clean water standing in containers round the home and bites mostly in daylight, especially early morning and late afternoon. The health sector's message is "no larvae, no dengue".
So at every visit the standing water is dealt with first and the spraying follows. Home spraying does not replace public-health measures; anyone with a high fever should be examined at a medical facility, not treated at home.
- Keep household water containers tightly covered and change vase water often.
- Empty plant saucers and the tray under the fridge; turn over unused buckets after rain or a high tide.
- Sleep under a net, by day as well, and co-operate when the local authority sprays an outbreak area.
How mosquito control in District 8 is priced
We publish no rate, because an alley tube house and a row of townhouses with yards on a canal need very different treatment. After the free survey you receive an all-inclusive written quote naming the areas to be sprayed, the method, the re-entry time (how long people and pets keep out of a treated area) and the repeat schedule; it changes only with your written agreement. It depends on:
- Floors, and the size of the roof terrace, porch, yard and other outdoor areas.
- How many plant pots, drain pits, channels and water features must be checked.
- The method, whether indoor areas are treated, and the repeat sprayings proposed for the rainy season.
- How much water-clearing, covering and wiping your Up specialist has to do.
- Warranty terms, if any, exactly as the quote states them.
On the day: who does what, and how to prepare
A technician from UpClean's own technical team sprays, using products chosen from the permitted list, validly registered in Vietnam and applied as the label directs; the plan you receive beforehand names the product, the areas and the re-entry time. Your Up specialist empties containers, covers belongings, keeps the spraying within the agreed area, tells the family when it is safe to go back in and wipes surfaces afterwards. You deal with UpClean alone.
For buildings that register contractors, we send the Up specialist's name and photo and the technicians' details. Where the Doi canal works have fenced the road, tell us the open route and where to park.
- At the survey, mention young children, older people, breathing conditions and any pets or fish.
- During spraying keep windows and balcony doors shut, and bring in laundry, toys and pet bowls.
- Cover fish tanks and water containers as the technicians direct, and return only when the re-entry time has passed.
- Heavy rain or strong wind usually means a new time.
Between sprayings, and booking a survey
The rainy season usually runs from about May to November, when the health sector also urges stronger dengue prevention. Our technicians propose the interval between sprayings and write it into the quote; each visit's result goes into the Up Report. In between, check the roof terrace, yard and loggia weekly, look at the ground floor and drains after a high tide, and mend torn insect screens.

- Call or message 0968 726 135 on WhatsApp or Zalo with the hours mosquitoes are worst, photos of the roof terrace, yard or loggia and your address.
