District 8 after two rounds of change: wards and bookings
In January 2025 three groups of District 8 wards, the city's local administrative units, took new names: Rach Ong (from Wards 1, 2 and 3), Hung Phu (8, 9 and 10) and Xom Cui (11, 12 and 13). In July, under Resolution 1685/NQ-UBTVQH15, nearly the whole district was redrawn as Chanh Hung, Phu Dinh and Binh Dong wards; a piece of the old Ward 16 moved to Binh Phu ward and Tan Nhut commune, and the leftover of the old Ward 7 to Binh Hung commune.
One house may therefore show three ward names on its papers; give us the street and number and we look it up. We take mattress bookings across the whole former district, 07:00 to 20:00 every day, by appointment: the exact time is agreed when you book.
- Chanh Hung ward
- Ward 4, Rach Ong and Hung Phu, plus part of Ward 5. About 4.3 km of the Doi Canal's north bank here has been under renovation since August 2025.
- Phu Dinh ward
- The old Wards 14 and 15, Xom Cui and part of Ward 16, with Ben Binh Dong along the Tau Hu Canal and new apartment projects such as D-Aqua.
- Binh Dong ward
- Ward 6, part of Ward 7 and what remained of Ward 5 in the old District 8, plus the former An Phu Tay commune: townhouses, residential alleys and new neighbourhoods.
Living by the canals: why mattresses here smell damp sooner
The Tau Hu, Lo Gom, Doi and Te canals run around and through the low neighbourhoods of the old District 8. Close to ten kilometres of the Tau Hu – Lo Gom bank now has a walkway and trees, but the air by the water stays heavy with moisture, above all early in the morning and in the evening. With the city's average relative humidity of about 79.5% and a rainy season from May to November, there is water vapour indoors most of the year.
A mattress soaks it up quietly: the cover and padding take in damp from the air and sweat every night, and in a ground-floor bedroom or against a canal-facing wall the underside and edges dry very slowly. It starts to smell musty, and small mould spots sometimes form underneath, often found only when it is turned. Ben Binh Dong apartments are airier, though canal-facing loggia doors let in damp wind and driving rain.
- A ground-floor mattress that smells damp every morning, most of all after long spells of rain.
- Small mould spots or light brown marks on the underside.
- A watermark in the corner nearest a loggia door where rain blows in.

Mould spots and damp patches: what cleaning can do
For a mattress that already smells damp or shows light mould, your Up specialist, the identity-verified cleaner UpClean sends, checks both sides first, photographs each spot and tells you what can be achieved. Both sides with dust-mite treatment is usually the better choice, so the underside, where damp collects, is cleaned and extracted too.
- Damp and sweat odours
- Deep vacuuming, spray extraction with controlled water, then thorough moisture extraction; the smell drops noticeably once the mattress is fully dry.
- Surface mould spots
- Treated spot by spot; recent ones usually fade considerably. If mould has reached the core, you are told beforehand that it cannot be fully restored.
- Rain or flood watermarks
- Each mark is worked separately; old ones may leave a faint outline, noted in the Up Report, the photo report we send after every visit.
- Mattress laid on the floor
- Propped up while we work so the underside can be extracted, with advice on a better-ventilated base afterwards.

Mattress types and how each is cleaned
Tell us the type and size, or send a photo of the label, so your specialist brings the right solutions and tools under the Up Standard, the procedure our specialists are trained to.
- Natural latex
- Latex prefers to stay dry: very little solution, no heat and no sun, so the core holds no water.
- Spring
- Water is pulled straight back out so it never reaches the springs, which rust if they stay damp in a house by the canal.
- Foam
- A thin spray and a slow extraction head, without pressing hard enough to dent the surface.
- Pressed cotton or folding mattress
- The slowest to dry; we look at photos first and take the job only if the method can dry it.

Canal roads, alleys and apartment rules: getting to you
Parts of the Doi Canal bank are being rebuilt and some stretches may be fenced off; describe the way in or send a map pin when you book. In narrow alleys the specialist comes by motorbike with compact equipment and only needs a parking spot that does not block the neighbours. Many apartment buildings want service staff registered in advance, so the day before we send your specialist's details for reception; lobby formalities after an on-time arrival do not count as lateness.
- Strip the sheets and pillowcases beforehand, or the specialist will do it.
- Pick a dry day if you can, and avoid booking a ground-floor room when heavy rain is forecast.
- Have a fan or the aircon ready for the room afterwards.
Keeping a mattress dry, and how often to clean
Between cleans, a few habits keep the mattress drier:
- Use a slatted bed base rather than laying the mattress on floor tiles, and keep it a few centimetres off the canal-facing wall.
- On dry days, strip the bed and stand the mattress on its side for a few hours in a breezy room; keep latex and foam out of strong sun.
- Ground-floor room in a house by the canal
- Every 3–4 months, preferably both sides.
- Young children or older relatives
- Once a quarter, with dust-mite treatment.
- High-rise apartment
- About every 6 months, including once straight after the rainy season.
- Every visit
- A fixed written price; 10% off if we are over 15 minutes late; photos of both sides by WhatsApp or Zalo, and a free redo if you reply within 48 hours.
