District 8 after 2025: the new wards and how we take bookings
Addresses here changed twice in 2025. In January nine old wards merged into Rach Ong, Hung Phu and Xom Cui. On 1 July the city stopped using districts, and Resolution 1685/NQ-UBTVQH15 placed most of the former District 8 in three wards, the local units now used on an address: Chanh Hung, Phu Dinh and Binh Dong. Small parts went to Binh Phu ward and to Tan Nhut and Binh Hung communes.
We take curtain bookings across the whole former district from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily. District 8 is served by appointment, so the arrival time is agreed when you book. Give us the street and number, or the building name; we find the ward.
- Chanh Hung ward
- The old ward 4, Rach Ong, Hung Phu and part of ward 5, on the north bank of the Doi canal, where rebuilding of about 4.3 km of bank began on 13 August 2025.
- Phu Dinh ward
- The old wards 14 and 15, Xom Cui and part of ward 16, including Ben Binh Dong beside the Tau Hu canal and new buildings such as D-Aqua at number 301.
- Binh Dong ward
- The old ward 6, part of ward 7, the rest of ward 5 and An Phu Tay commune: townhouses, alley houses and newer residential streets.
Canal air and building dust: what curtains in District 8 put up with
The former District 8 is low ground crossed by four canals: Tau Hu, Lo Gom, Doi and Te. Nearly 10 km of embankment now lines Tau Hu and Lo Gom, with footpaths and trees on Phu Dinh, Me Coc and Ben Binh Dong, but the air beside the water is still moist. With the city's relative humidity averaging about 79.5% over the year and rain from May to November, heavy curtains at canal-facing windows tend to hold damp and develop a smell.
Where the north bank of the Doi canal is being rebuilt, fine soil dust drifts in through front windows; left on damp fabric, it sets into grey streaks.
Loggias (enclosed balconies) on Ben Binh Dong face the canal and catch afternoon sun and driven rain, so the curtain edge by the door marks easily. Low-lying townhouses take damp from below: Thanh Nien newspaper reported the tide entering homes on Phu Dinh street on the evening of 16 November 2024, including some whose floors had been raised, and a floor-length curtain downstairs soaks that up.

Damp smells, mould spots and rain marks: what cleaning can and cannot do
Your Up specialist, the UpClean staff member who does the work, photographs each problem and says how far it should improve before starting.
- Damp smell
- Heavy curtains are vacuumed and steam-cleaned where they hang; washable ones are washed gently, a set at a time. The smell usually drops clearly once the fabric is fully dry.
- Mould spots
- New spots usually fade. Spots that have reached into the fibres may leave a trace, noted in the Up Report, the photo record sent after the visit.
- Rain and floodwater stains
- Treated one by one after a colour test on a hidden corner; old stains may only lighten.
- Fabric weakened by damp
- Mending, new eyelets and rail repairs are outside the service; the condition is recorded so you can decide.
Ben Binh Dong apartments, canal-side townhouses, alley houses and shops
The specialist reads the care label, tests colourfastness and measures each set with you, then chooses the method by fabric and position.
- Apartments facing the canal
- On a two-layer loggia door, the sheer is washed gently on its own and the blackout layer cleaned lightly so its coating does not crack.
- Townhouses on the Doi and Tau Hu canals
- Heavy front-window curtains are steam-cleaned on the rail, after soil dust has been vacuumed from both faces and every fold.
- Alley houses
- The specialist comes by motorbike with a compact kit; tell us the number of floors and window heights so a suitable ladder comes too.
- Restaurants and shopfronts
- Fresh kitchen grease usually reduces markedly; older marks may only fade. Roller and Venetian blinds are quoted from photos of the roller and cords.
What curtain cleaning costs in District 8: worked examples
The rate is 40,000 VND per m² of curtain. Taking down and re-hanging is 100,000 VND once for the visit, and no visit is billed below 400,000 VND. The areas below are estimates; the price is fixed once the specialist has measured in your home.
- The rate covers the colour test, vacuuming, wiping the rail, steaming and the Up Report; new eyelets, rail repairs and re-stitching are not included.
- Once agreed after measuring, the price changes only if you accept a change in writing.
| Home | Estimated area and price |
|---|---|
| One-bedroom apartment | About 8 m² in the bedroom and at the loggia, cleaned in place: 400,000 VND (320,000 VND before the per-visit minimum). |
| Two-bedroom apartment on Ben Binh Dong | About 17 m² with sheers and blackout layers, taken down and re-hung: 780,000 VND. |
| Three-storey townhouse on the Doi canal | About 30 m² across front windows, balcony and bedrooms, taken down and re-hung: 1,300,000 VND. |
| Restaurant or shopfront | About 15 m² of fabric curtain, cleaned in place: 600,000 VND. |
Building rules, fenced canal roads and getting ready
New buildings on Ben Binh Dong usually register service staff in advance, set working hours and assign a lift for equipment. We send the specialist's name and photo beforehand for reception or security; a wait in the lobby after an on-time arrival does not count as lateness.
For canal-side and alley houses the issue is access: stretches beside the Doi canal may be fenced off during the works, so send a map pin and say where a motorbike can be left.
On a low ground floor, pick a dry day if you can; afterwards, open a window or run a fan so the fabric dries evenly.
How often to clean, what we commit to, and how to book
Six to twelve months suits most homes; every 3–6 months for curtains facing a road under works, and a check after each rainy season for low ground-floor rooms. Between cleans, open curtains fully on dry days and hitch up long ground-floor hems when a high tide is forecast.
- Our commitments
- Up specialists are identity-verified and trained to the Up Standard. More than 15 minutes late means 10% off that visit; any set you are unhappy with is redone free if you tell us within 48 hours of the Up Report. Moving or cancelling is free with more than 24 hours' notice; a later cancellation costs 30%.
