The name now covers three things. The former Thu Duc District lasted until the end of 2020. Thu Duc City, set up under Resolution 1111/NQ-UBTVQH14 from 1 January 2021 by joining Districts 2 and 9 with Thu Duc District, had 211.56 km², 1,013,795 people and 34 wards when it was formed. Today's Thu Duc ward is just part of the old district of that name.

On 1 July 2025 the city level was dissolved under Resolution 1685/NQ-UBTVQH15 and the area reorganised into 12 wards, the local units used in addresses. The city's own portal gives an average temperature of about 27°C, with relative humidity near 80% in the rainy season (May to November) and 74.5% in the dry season. Warmth and damp all year suit dust mites and mould, which wear a mattress down quietly, above all when it is seldom aired.

In a terraced townhouse the bedroom often has few windows and shared walls, so little sun gets in, and the mattress tends to lie on a closed wooden platform or straight on the floor, leaving its underside no way to breathe. In a high-rise flat the bedroom stays shut with the aircon on, and the mattress is hardly ever aired. Both call for a clean that goes deep with very little water, so that no fresh damp is driven into the core. Habits that make things worse:

• A mattress on bare tiles or a solid platform, with no gap underneath.
• Lying down with wet hair, or making the bed before the surface has dried after days of rain.
• Years without turning the mattress, so one hollow collects the sweat.

The price follows the size of each mattress. Cleaning both sides adds 120,000 VND and intensive dust-mite treatment adds 100,000 VND, per mattress. Worked from the current price list:

A single under 1.4 m, one side: 350,000 VND.

One-bedroom flat

A 1.6 m mattress on both sides: 450,000 VND + 120,000 VND = 570,000 VND.

A 1.8 m mattress, plus a child's single with dust-mite treatment: 1,000,000 VND.

Apartment buildings often require contractor registration, identity papers and the service lift for equipment. We send your specialist's name and photo beforehand, and lobby formalities after an on-time arrival are not counted as lateness. For a lane townhouse, tell us how wide the lane is, where to park and which floor the mattress is on: it is cleaned in the bedroom, with no need to carry it downstairs.

• Shoe covers, a tool mat, and floors and stairs protected along the route.
• Dirty water stays in the extraction machine and is disposed of properly, never poured into the lane, a shared corridor or onto a balcony.
• In a room with few windows, book a morning slot and keep the door open with a fan or aircon running so the mattress dries evenly, usually within 6–8 hours.

The dry season, December to April, brings lower humidity, so a cleaned mattress dries faster and more evenly: the right time for the year's most thorough clean, both sides included.

• December–January: a full clean on both sides before Tết.
• May–June, as the rains start: a surface clean, with dust-mite treatment if there are young children.
• Every 3–4 months with young children, older relatives or anyone sensitive to dust, and whenever you move into a new or furnished flat.
