A Go Vap house can appear on paperwork under three addresses. From 1 January 2025 Wards 4 and 7 moved into Ward 1, Ward 9 into Ward 8, and Ward 13 was divided between Wards 14 and 15; from 1 July 2025, under Resolution 1685/NQ-UBTVQH15, the remaining twelve became six newly named wards. Quote whichever version you have.

Go Vap had more than 676,000 residents at the 2019 census, Thanh Nien reported, most in narrow tube houses where the washing machine ends up either in a closed corner downstairs or on the roof terrace beside the washing line.

The area was once a flower-growing village. Cong An TP.HCM newspaper (2019) records flowers grown in the old Wards 11, 12 and 13, now Thong Tay Hoi, An Hoi Tay and An Hoi Dong, for more than 300 years before the houses came, and many families still keep potted plants on the roof. A machine beside them gathers dry leaves and soil, bakes in the afternoon sun, and in the May–November rains gets wet if the terrace is uncovered.

Downstairs it is the reverse: with shared side walls the corner rarely airs, and at an average relative humidity of about 79.5% the drum seldom dries between loads, so residue and lint coat the outside of the inner drum, unseen until it comes out.

Everyone's laundry goes through one large top-loader several times a day, so shorten the interval; at about 1.5–2 hours per top-loader, the laundry is out of use for one session.

Front-loaders and washer-dryers often stand in a utility room or cabinet; floor and walls are protected, and a built-in machine that is hard to pull out is assessed from photos first.

A shop on the ground floor

Common along Phan Van Tri, Quang Trung, Nguyen Oanh and Nguyen Van Luong. Book before opening or after closing, within 07:00 to 20:00, so tools go upstairs without crossing customers.

Top-loader up to 9 kg

450,000 VND, about 1.5–2 hours. The pulsator comes off and the drum lifts out, so the shaft, base and crevices can be reached.

Top-loader over 9 kg

550,000 VND; often the family's machine for duvets and curtains.

Front-loader

690,000 VND up to 9 kg, 790,000 VND above; about 2–3 hours, as more parts come off. Most of the time goes on the door seal, where mould readily forms, and the detergent drawer.

Washer-dryer

The price for its door type and capacity, plus 150,000 VND for the drying system.

Japanese-market and sun-worn machines

Japanese domestic models are priced from photos. Years on a sunny roof can leave plastic brittle and screws rusted; if your specialist finds that, or hears a worn bearing, they ask you before dismantling and note it in the Up Report.

Four fixed prices by door type and capacity, 450,000 VND and 550,000 VND for top-loaders and 690,000 VND and 790,000 VND for front-loaders, plus 150,000 VND for a machine that also dries. Several machines share one visit.

Most lanes are too narrow to stop outside, and roof stairs are small and steep. Your specialist parks nearby, carries the kit up in compact bags and covers the steps; the machine stays put. • Empty the drum and clear plants and racks from around the machine.
• On an uncovered terrace, if it rains we agree a later time or another place to work indoors.

• Rooftop machine: keep it covered and brush leaves off the lid before opening.
• The tub-clean programme helps between visits but does not replace drum removal; about every 6 months suits a machine in daily use.
