Washing machine cleaning in District 5 — Cho Lon, An Dong, Cho Quan

Resolution 1685/NQ-UBTVQH15, in force from 1 July 2025, folded the whole former District 5 into three wards: Cho Quan, An Dong and Cho Lon. On 1 January 2025, four old wards had already been absorbed by neighbouring ones, so one house can appear under several ward names on its papers; your house number and street are enough.

We visit all three wards between 07:00 and 20:00 daily, by appointment. The arrival time is set when you book, because it depends on when the shop opens and where a vehicle can stop.

Cho Lon ward

Old Wards 11 to 14, ward office at 279 Hai Thuong Lan Ong; an area tied to the Chinese community, with traditional medicine shops, assembly halls and multi-storey townhouses in older styles.

An Dong ward

Old Wards 5, 7 and 9, roughly 1.32 km², named after An Dong Market; houses that double as shops sit next to commercial buildings.

Cho Quan ward

Old Wards 1, 2 and 4, roughly 1.28 km², with Saigon University; townhouses line the main roads beside apartment blocks of many years' standing.

Most homes here are tube houses: narrow, deep and several storeys high, with a shop or storeroom below and the family above. Many of Cho Lon's townhouse rows date from the early twentieth century, before households had washing machines, so the laundry corner was usually added later, on the roof terrace or beside the light well at the back.

Those two spots are opposites. On the roof terrace, even under a corrugated roof, the casing heats up at midday and rain blows in from roughly May to November. Beside the light well the air hardly moves and steam lingers, in a city whose average relative humidity is about 79.5%. Either way, residue and lint gather on the outside of the inner drum and the bottom of the outer tub; where the family trades in fabric, dried goods or traditional medicine, stock dust on work clothes can also fill the drain filter faster.

• Clothes dried on the roof terrace still smell faintly damp.
• Brown residue or black flecks on pale clothes and face towels.
• A machine by the light well smells as soon as the lid opens.

Tube house with a ground-floor shop

Narrow, steep stairs

The drum is removed and cleaned where the machine stands; the machine is never carried down, and the stairs are covered while equipment goes up.

Flat in an older block

Laundry spaces can be tight, so send a photo of the machine and the way in. If the management or residents' group wants notice, we provide the specialist's name and photo.

Eateries, clinics and shops

A household machine used for towels or uniforms is charged at the standard price; a commercial machine is priced only after photos.

Every machine follows the same Up Standard sequence: a test run and photos of its condition, the area protected, the drum separated; then inner drum, outer tub, pulsator, shaft, detergent drawer, drain filter and hose are cleaned, and the machine is reassembled and run through one test cycle.

Top-loader

Often the one on the roof terrace. The thickest residue lies under the pulsator, the wash plate at the bottom of the drum, and at the base of the outer tub. About 1.5–2 hours.

Front-loader

More parts come off; the rubber door seal and detergent drawer get the closest attention. About 2–3 hours.

Japanese-market and older machines

Japanese domestic-market machines are priced after photos. On an old machine with brittle plastic, rusted screws or a noisy bearing, we dismantle only after talking it through with you.

Each machine is priced by door type and the capacity on its rating label: top-loaders 450,000 VND up to 9 kg and 550,000 VND above, front-loaders 690,000 VND and 790,000 VND at the same thresholds, plus 150,000 VND for a washer-dryer.

• Commercial and hard-to-reach built-in machines are priced after photos.
• The written quote comes before the day; any change needs your written approval.

• Streets are busy early and stopping is restricted on some, so tell us when the shop is quiet and where to park.
• On a roof terrace we work under the covered part; if heavy rain leaves too little shelter, we ask to move the time.
• Dirty water goes to the laundry drain, never down the light well or onto a neighbour's awning.
• More than 15 minutes late means 10% off. Anything not up to standard is redone free if you tell us within 48 hours of receiving the Up Report.
• Damage: report it within 24 hours with photos; we compare them with the photos taken before and take responsibility under our policy where our specialist was at fault.

For a machine used daily, take the drum out about every 6 months, sooner with a large household or young children. By a light well, leave the lid and drawer ajar after washing; on a roof terrace, use a cover. Book before Tết, or as soon as clothes smell or show black flecks.
