What kind of oven do I have, and why does it change how it is cleaned?
Read the manual or the manufacturer's label first. What lines the cavity decides which tools and products are safe, and the manufacturer's instructions outrank any general advice, this guide included. An Up specialist, UpClean's identity-verified and trained cleaner, checks the type of appliance, its label and where it is fitted before starting.
| What you have | What that changes |
|---|---|
| Freestanding oven | Stands on its own. Trays, racks and shelf supports come out to be soaked; the cavity and door glass are cleaned in place. |
| Built-in oven | Cleaned where it is fitted, once it has been unplugged or switched off at its own switch. |
| Grease-absorbing panels (catalytic liners) | Treat them exactly as the manufacturer's label says. A metal scourer or a corrosive product is never part of the method. |
| A special enamel coating | The same rule: the label decides, and nothing abrasive or corrosive goes near it. |
How do I clean an oven, its racks and the door glass myself?
Soak what comes out, and use tools that do not scratch on what stays in. Burnt-on grease takes a different amount of time from dust or old limescale, which is why an UpClean quote states the expected duration of each job; on a coated lining, a metal scourer or a corrosive product is never the way to speed it up.
- Switch the oven off, unplug it or turn it off at its own switch, and wait until it is cold.
- Cover the floor and the worktop in front of the oven, and keep a cloth ready for dirty water.
- Take out the trays, racks and shelf supports. Remove only parts the manufacturer designed to come off by hand.
- Soak the trays, racks and supports, then scrub each piece on its own.
- Clean the cavity and the inside of the door glass with a tool that does not scratch, using a product your oven's manual allows.
- Wear gloves for any degreaser, and open a window or run the range hood while you work.
- Never spray water at a motor or a circuit board, and never open the casing.
- Dry every part, refit the supports and racks, wipe the outside, and switch the oven on to check that it works.
Is oven cleaner spray safe in a small apartment kitchen, and what should never be used?
Only as far as your oven's manual or label allows. On an enamel coating or grease-absorbing panels, corrosive products are ruled out, and UpClean uses none on oven coatings or other sensitive parts. Protect the worktop beside the oven as well, since quartz is sensitive to some strong chemicals.
Ventilate by opening a window or running the range hood, and keep cleaning products out of children's reach.
| Never use | Why |
|---|---|
| Metal scourers or steel wool on the cavity, the door glass or a coated panel | These surfaces are cleaned with tools that do not scratch, and coated linings only as their label instructs. |
| Corrosive products on enamel or grease-absorbing panels | The manufacturer's label sets what may be used on them. |
| Oven and grill cleaner on a quartz worktop | Caesarstone, the quartz-surface maker, counts them among the highly alkaline cleaners to keep off its surfaces. On marble, avoid any degreaser that is not labelled as safe for stone. |
| Chlorine bleach together with vinegar, an acid or a product containing ammonia | Cleaning products should never be mixed, and this combination least of all. |
| Water sprayed at a motor or a circuit board | Unplug the appliance and wipe with a well-wrung cloth instead. |
How do I clean a microwave without damaging it?
Soften the grease first, then wipe it away. An Up specialist softens grease in the cavity with warm steam and a product that suits the surface, with no strong chemicals.
- Unplug the microwave.
- Soften the grease in the cavity with warm steam and a cleaning product that is legally on sale and suits the surface, then wipe it off.
- Lift out the turntable and clean it together with its spindle, then wipe the door seal.
- Go over the cavity again with a cloth and clean water, so that no smell of the product stays inside.
- Wipe the door glass and the outside, and leave the casing closed: there are high-voltage components inside, even after unplugging.
How do I clean an air fryer safely?
Start only when it is unplugged and has cooled completely. Wash the basket and the tray after each use, and wipe the cavity and the guard above it whenever grease shows. For anything else, such as whether a part may go in water, follow the manufacturer's instructions for your model. The rules for every small appliance apply here as well: no water sprayed at a motor or a circuit board, and no opening the casing.
UpClean cleans air fryers but has no listed price for them: one is quoted after a free photo survey and can be done in the same visit as the oven.
How often should an oven, a microwave and an air fryer be cleaned?
A wipe after use and a deep clean every few months, adjusted to how much you cook. These intervals are a guide for ordinary use in Ho Chi Minh City; each appliance's manual takes priority.
| Appliance | Routine care and deep clean |
|---|---|
| Microwave | Wipe after use. Deep clean every few months, sooner in a household that cooks a lot. |
| Oven | Wipe once it has cooled after use. Deep clean every few months, depending on how often it is used. |
| Air fryer | Basket and tray after every use; cavity and guard when grease shows, always with the appliance cold. |
| Range hood grease filter | As its maker recommends, with a monthly check in a household that fries often. The fridge and range hood guide covers it. |
| Signs a deep clean is due | Grease built up in the cavity, or a burnt smell when you heat food. |
| Good moments to book | Before Tết, when moving into a home, and before handing back a rented apartment whose lease names the oven. |
When should you stop and call someone instead?
Stop as soon as the dirt can only be reached by opening the casing, or the appliance smells of burning or leaks current or water. At that point the safety of the people at home matters more than a clean cavity, and a technical check belongs with the manufacturer's service centre or a qualified technician.
What does a professional oven deep clean service cover?
It covers what can be reached safely, with only hand-removable parts taken off. If you are planning kitchen deep cleaning within a whole-apartment deep clean, the standard scope wipes the outside of the oven; the inside is cleaned only when agreed in the quote.
| Part of the job | Included or not |
|---|---|
| Before work starts | Included: photos of each appliance as found, and each one unplugged or switched off at its own switch. |
| Oven | Included: trays, racks and shelf supports soaked and scrubbed separately; cavity and door glass cleaned with tools that do not scratch; outside wiped. |
| Microwave | Included: grease softened with warm steam and wiped away; turntable, spindle and door seal cleaned; a final wipe with clean water. |
| Enamel coatings and grease-absorbing panels | Included, treated as the label instructs, with no metal scourers and no corrosive products. |
| The kitchen around it | Included: work area protected, dirty water collected, surfaces dried and everything returned to its place. |
| At the end | Included: reassembly, a test with you, and the Up Report noting anything worn or already damaged. |
| Repairs, parts and electrical work | Not included. No casing, wiring or circuit board is opened; any fault noticed is photographed for the service centre. |
| Inside the oven during a whole-home deep clean | Only when agreed in the quote. The apartment cleaning guide covers the rest, room by room. |
What does oven and microwave cleaning cost?
Each appliance has a fixed, all-inclusive price, and the minimum per visit is 500,000 VND. Book it in the same appointment as aircon or washing machine cleaning and that minimum is waived, so a single microwave is charged at its own price. The quote lists every appliance, the tasks and the expected time, and nothing is added without your written agreement.
| Appliance or visit | Fixed price |
|---|---|
| Microwave | 350,000 VND. |
| Freestanding oven | 400,000 VND. |
| Built-in oven | 500,000 VND. |
| Appliance mounted high, above a false ceiling or in a tight space | 100,000 VND extra per unit. |
| Air fryer | Quoted after a free photo survey. |
| A microwave on its own | 500,000 VND: the microwave is 350,000 VND, and the 500,000 VND minimum per visit applies. |
| Microwave and built-in oven | 850,000 VND. |
| Microwave, built-in oven and range hood | 1,200,000 VND, with the hood at 350,000 VND from the fridge and range hood price list. |
| Microwave booked with an aircon clean | 350,000 VND for the microwave, because the minimum is waived; the aircon is priced on its own list. |
What does UpClean do on the visit, and how do I book?
Send photos of each appliance, its label and where it is installed by WhatsApp or Zalo to 0968 726 135, or call that number, between 7:00 AM and 8:00 PM, seven days a week. A written quote with each appliance, the work and the fixed price comes before anything is scheduled. Quotes, confirmations and the Up Report can all be in English; ask for an English-speaking specialist when you book, and if one cannot be arranged you are told beforehand and supported by phone or message.
The specialist's name, photo and contact number reach you before the visit, so that you can register them with building management, as many buildings ask residents to do for outside staff. You need not be home: a key can be left with building management, reception or family, and the walk-through can be done by video call. A fragrance-free product option is always available.
Afterwards the Up Report, UpClean's record of the visit sent by WhatsApp or Zalo, gives before-and-after photos, the checklist, the start and finish times and any technical notes. Payment follows the walk-through, by bank transfer or cash. Anything in the agreed scope that falls short is redone free of charge if you reply within 48 hours of the report; damage is reported within 24 hours with photos, to be checked against the starting photos.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use oven cleaner spray in a small apartment kitchen?+
Check the oven's manual or label first: on an enamel coating or grease-absorbing panels, corrosive products are ruled out. Protect the worktop too, since Caesarstone lists oven and grill cleaners among the highly alkaline products to keep off quartz. Wear gloves, ventilate, and never mix it with another product.
How do I get burnt-on grease off an enamel oven?+
Soak the racks and trays, use tools that do not scratch on the cavity and the door glass, and use only products the label allows. Metal scourers and corrosive products stay ruled out on enamel, however stubborn the grease.
Is it safe to take the cover off a microwave to clean behind it?+
No. There are high-voltage components inside, even after the microwave has been unplugged. Clean the cavity, the turntable, the spindle, the door seal and the outside, and leave the casing closed.
Does an apartment deep clean include the inside of the oven?+
Not as standard. A deep clean wipes the outside of the oven, the cabinets, the fridge and the range hood; the inside of the oven is cleaned only when it has been agreed in the quote.
How much does oven cleaning cost in Ho Chi Minh City?+
At UpClean, 400,000 VND for a freestanding oven and 500,000 VND for a built-in one; a microwave is 350,000 VND. The minimum per visit is 500,000 VND, waived when the appliances are booked together with aircon or washing machine cleaning.
Do you repair ovens, microwaves or air fryers?+
No. The service is cleaning only: no repairs, no replacement parts and no electrical work. If the specialist notices a fault, it is photographed and noted so that you can contact the manufacturer's service centre.
